Cryptic Studios gets all uh, cryptic, shuts down official forums and blog photo

There's something going on at Cryptic Studios, best known for their work on the PC MMOs City of Heroes and City of Villains. Today, the studio announced that they would be closing both their official forums and their official blog.

"As work on Cryptic Studios' upcoming projects progresses," wrote Community Content Writer Christine Thompson (under the handle "Kestrel"), "we have reached a point where we must focus all of our energies towards ensuring that our presentations of those projects are the absolute best work we can do."

Thompson then goes on to say that the studio is excited for what is "planned for next year and beyond," but doesn't divulge any furhter details. This comes not long after rumors surfaced that the studios' MMO collaboration with Microsoft and Marvel may have been in danger of complete cancellation.

It looks like we'll have the wait until next year to get more info -- Thompson closes her message with "Thank you again, and see you in 2008!" But that's so many weeks away!

So in other words: They're poor and are trying to scrounge up every last red cent they can to prevent closing up shop.

I don't see why they would need to shut down their forum and blog, or how that would help development.

I wonder if that sadistic jail guard a while back had anything to do with this..

Tales from the Crypt was an awesome show.

Anyway, this is an outrage! I demand to speak to their supervisor! What's that? You're busy?? You better be making games!

I'm guessing they're shutting down. I think that most of the developers for Cryptic were offered jobs at NCSoft recently, leaving the fate o the Cryptic in doubt.

I know a guy in real life who looks a lot like the crypt keeper, it's so disgusting.
