Cryptic are 'looking' into PS3 development, probably seeing some possibilities photo

Cryptic Studios, developer of Champions Online and Star Trek Online, are officially going to take the PlayStation 3 plunge. In a statement given to CVG, Cryptic confirmed that they are “looking” into PS3 development and are “dedicated to creating amazing cross-platform MMO gameplay.”

Cryptic didn’t comment on a timeframe or which game is going to make it over to the PS3. Recent rumors have pointed towards Star Trek Online, but one shouldn’t be surprised if it is actually Champions. Earlier this year we heard that the game was being actively developed on the PS3 alongside the PC and Xbox 360 versions.

PS3 owners who enjoy the console MMO experience should be foaming at the mouth. Cryptic knows how to deliver a solid MMO, if City of Heroes or Villains are any indication. We touched Champions Online several times, and always come away with a sense that it is going in the right direction. I was impressed by how well the action controls translated to a controller.

Cool. Hopefully they can actually make it cross-platform across consoles (though I kind of doubt they could pull that off). The more people playing the MMO the better.
