Continuing on with the EA financials call news this afternoon, EA confirms that Crysis 2 has been pushed back into late 2011. We were supposed to see it later this year, right in time for the holidays. Now it looks like it's going to be Q4 of FY2011.
I wonder what the hold-up is. Hopefully that recently announced addition of 3D visuals isn't holding things up.

oh well, the bright side, at least, is that 2011 might be too much wonderful for most gamers to handle. Bulletstorm, Dead Space 2, Brink, Crysis 2, KillZone 3 (hopefully the campaign is better this time around...), Arkham Asylum 2, rAge, Homefront, Red Faction: Armageddon, new Zelda, Dragon Age 2, Alice: Madness Returns, Gears of War 3, Star Wars: The Old Republic, I Am Alive, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat, Aliens: Colonial Marines, GTA V, Portal 2, Twisted Metal...
Holy crap, I'm going to be eating ramen noodles for quite a bit here. :-D
Halo Reach comes out September. Call of Duty: Black Ops comes out November. These two will mop up most of the FPS market. Meaning EA would have to release Crysis 2 would have to release in October for any hope of having decent sales... and that's already got Medal of Honor in it. They either compete with themselves or they move one out, and since Crysis 2 didn't have a release date they obviously have been considering this for a while.

It should be, after all. All you have to do is put two cameras in the game instead of one; heck the cameras are even perfectly syncronized with eachother, meaning only one of the viewpoints has to change dynamically, while the other anchors itself to be relative to the first camera's viewpoint. Put both of them a virtual inch to the right and left of the default and you have instant 3D. The only reason you would need a delay to implement 3D is if you ran out of processing power in doing so. Or felt like adding a ton of 3D gimmicks like in the early 3D movies.
I don't mind waiting.
