Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

The hopeless romantic in me sort of cringes at the above video as I'm pretty sure that no girl in the world really wants to be proposed to while sitting on a stool in front of a TV while playing Super Mario World, but the gamer in me is jumping for creative joy at the sight. Who knows, maybe this is the girl's wildest dream come true. Either way, you have to give him some points for creativity and the musical cue at the end when they kiss is adorable.

So this removes Super Mario World from the list of gaming ways you can propose. Has anyone's marriage proposal idea been crushed? Remember when you're arranging your gamer related marriage proposal that LittleBigPlanet has also been used before. This still leaves many options open. For instance, you could some how mod God of War so that the blood would spell out "would you marry me" as you ripped a man in half. Romance is so not dead.

Also, donate!

Ahahahaha! Marry me in this dark depraived basement! That is sad, but quite inventive. Surprised she said yes! Must be a hardcore gamer, or a Mario lover.

The Chrono Trigger ROMhack proposal is still tops, for me.

Awww. =)
What if she kept dying before she got to that part, became outraged and broke up with him?! Hmmm?!

I wish I believed in proposals, I never saw the point in them. I still think these are neat sometimes though. He probably should have used something other that coins to get his point across. That way he wouldn't have to coach her through it.

I'm a firm believer in the tried and true caveman method. Bash on the head and drag'em back to the cave by the hair. If they survive the assault that is.

Dawwww... How sweet...

I'm gonna hack Gears of War so when my bride-to-be chainsaws a Locust in half, the blood splatters my marriage proposal on the screen.

A former online buddy of mine made a couple of pokémon save files on his girlfriend's game that spelled "would you marry me?" a while back. It was really cute ^_^

*sigh*

now that this idea has been done a few times, it seems to be about as romantic as proposing by text message to me.

If I ever got married, I'd propose by showing her a youtube video of someone else's creative proposal. If it's good enough for them it's good enough for me.

They'd better not get divorced. As the greatest game of all time Super Mario World deserves better than to dragged through the mud like that.

Nice vid! Would have been better I think if she was just a tiny bit happier about the whole deal. I mean she didn't really seem to care all that much that she's supposed to SPEND HER ENTIRE LIFE WITH THIS GUY NOW! But hey that's just me.
