Criterion to reveal Burnout Paradise island info tomorrow photo

Criterion Games is hinting that tomorrow it may reveal some solid details on its upcoming Burnout Paradise “Big Surf Island” expansion.

“Almost time to spill the beans,” writes Criterion’s Pete Lake on his Twitter account. “Be watching CriterionGames.com at 4pm BST this Friday. Your questions will be answered…”

So we’ll definitely be doing that “watching” thing tomorrow at 4pm BST. The island expansion was originally announced to be released in Fall of 2008, but things got out of hand -- Criterion made the damned thing bigger than they had originally planned. That would explain what’s taking it so long, and why it won’t be free content.

But who can complain? The free updates and support for Burnout Paradise has been out of control since the game’s launch; these guys deserve your cash.

On a side note, Lake also mentions on his Twitter that Grasshopper Manufacture’s Suda 51 visited their studio a few days ago. Is a No More Heroes/Burnout cross-over in the works!?!? (That’s a joke, but seriously… think about that for a second.)

I hate most racing games, but I can't stop playing Burnout Paradise thanks to all of these damned updates! They really know how to make an addicting game. They'll definitely get my money for a new island.

Nearly a year and a half after its release and it still has a place in the ps3 fnf!

Online Road Rules were the greatest invention ever. I hope they release all the DLC in some kind of super bundle.

Greatest racing game ever? Perhaps so! The way Criterion has supported this game should be an example to every other developer on the planet.

They really did something right with Burnout Paradise. Probably the first racing game I've bought in decades, and I don't regret it at all. Got it three weeks ago and have had a blast. Such a fresh spin on racing with tons of great updates and DLC. I LOVE the takedown system.

I swear I had about 30 hours logged before I even touched the motorcycles... which happen to also be amazingly fun. Spent a good chunk of time getting that 100% license by completing all the day/night events. The last bike is INSANE! I love zipping around the city. Want more!

I haven't even bothered going online yet, though I know there is a social network there that could bring in hours upon hours of more life to an already extensive game. Then I hear about this new island, and I can't wait!

Its been nice getting back in to racing games lately. I bought Motorstorm recently too and thats a hell of a time. I'm going to have to pay more attention to these zoom zoom games, as they are fucking good.

Suda 51 eh? Does this mean we'll have assassins trying to get first place in car races while driving a car with one hand and attempting to kill the other competitors with lightsabers with the other hand? Or maybe, I'll just shorten it to vehicular combat?

I am obsessed with Burnout Paradise. I just got my Platinum trophy last night. I can't put it down, and I have 4 Xbox 360 games in the wrapper awaiting my attention!

...BST? I didn't realize Criterion wasn't an American developer.

Does it blow your mind that I've never even played this game?

@ Holyetheline

Does it blow your mind that it's my least favourite game in the burnout series? I don't get why everyone else raves about it tbh. It's not a bad game but it's not brilliant either - though Criterion's support of it has been phenomenal.
