Criterion teases Need for Speed title in 2010 photo

Soon we’ll receive PR from Electronic Arts announcing that Burnout developer Criterion is working on a 2010-bound Need for Speed game. The blast won’t a surprise -- this isn’t a secret pairing. EA COO John Pleasants and EA Games label president Frank Gibeau have confirmed it before. But it’ll be nice to have the triple confirmation (which comes together to form the Confirm-Force).

If EA corporate whispers during financial conference calls don’t convince you that Criterion is indeed doing Need for Speed, perhaps the developer’s latest not-so-cryptic tweet should do the trick. “2010 will satisfy our increasing desire for traveling at a rate of high velocity,” it reads, “ … or something to that effect … “

Right. So it’s either a new Need for Speed or Criterion is redoing that bike section in Battletoads. We’re up for both.

EA are just throwing different things at NFS's face now lol, geez..
Give it up, you destroyed the NFS reputation by having n00b devs for too long, i dont care if the Forza 3 or Grand Turismo devs make the next NFS game, its still gonna suck just like all previous NFS games have sucked these past 6 years.

I do hope this doesnt put a Burnout sequel on the backburner, that would just be shameful.

As long as this new Need for Speed is like Burnout, then I'll be happy.

Criterion is making the new NFS? Oh god.

I love Criterion like me own flesh and blood but I was always hoping it would never cone to this. I always likes my Burnout and NFS seperate and while there's no saying whether it really is a hybrid or not I just...I dunno...it's unsettling.

I'd prefer them to go on ahead with that Black trilogy now.

@Baleur
I still don't feel like it's time for another Burnout. I mean what can they do at this point other than wait for the dust to settle and there's still quite a bit of it in the air. Maybe a year and a half. I'm actually glad there's no Burnout sequel in the news. Still I dunno how I feel about another NFS either. And I love all those NFS games everyone hates and still I'm not diggin' this.

For me the NFS series lost attraction after Hot Pursuit 2...

On the other hand Burnout Paradise just never gets old for me (just like the older Burnout titles...)

I´ll wait for the next Burnout to come crashing into my television set :-)

We know Criterion can actually do good PC ports, but will they keep up if they're delivering for all platforms at the same time?

I don't even remember the last Need for Speed I played... I think it was Underground or something, either way. I'm up for whatever Criterion has to offer in the way of racing games(As much as I'd prefer Burnout 6)
