Criterion's Burnout Paradise DLC frenzy continues in 09 with new hovering car photo

Seriously, I don't know how Criterion does it with all of this downloadable content for Burnout Paradise, but bless their souls. And in 2009, it's not going to stop -- there's more on the way.

Today the developer revealed one of the new cars that will be available for Burnout Paradise in 2009, a 1980s silver sports car called The Jansen 88 Special. The fast, sleek car will burn flame trails from its back wheels when boost is trigger and ... it hovers. By pressing L3, the wheels will retract and you'll switch to hover mode.

The f**king car hovers, guys.

What will they think of next?

the back to the future car is like my secound fav of all time.

next I want this and I will pay like $5 for it if they make it happen.

and it has to have turbo boost jumps when you hit the button.

Oh for get that they should just make an entire knight rider game where you chase down guys and ram them off the road that is what he does.

I totally agree with Swizzler121 on this one man, how could you not make some kind of reference or joke about it being the fricken Delorian in your article!

Just make like a tree... and get out of here.

Really tho I hope it does more than just hover 3 feet off the ground, but seems unlikely that it will act any different from a normal car in the game.

I'm already buying it right now in my head. If the car's at a decent price (something along the lines of under $5? I guess?) then it's a definite pick up.

Actually anything higher than $5 I would consider some thought... and still buy it :D.

Hey if this car can go back into the past and make the developers make RETROACTIVE trophies I'd be game.

Jesus christ Tubatic, shut the fuck up already, we get it.

And this is cool, shame none of this stuff can fix the shitty rubberband A.I.

@Tubatic

What's the problem? They have released and are (I think) due to release loads of free content, who knows why they are charging for these? I can't see them being stupidly overpriced.

Maybe they had to pay for permission to use these things in the game, I mean, it'd be pretty difficult to argue that a hovering Delorean look-a-like with 88 in the naem wasn't the car from Back to the Future...

There are plenty of developers who shamelessly take advantage of their fans but I don't honestly think Criterion is one of them.

Holy fucking shit that is awesome, I still don't like the game, but good lord, that is awesome. Back to the future was awesome, and I am so glad they have put a 'modern' look a like in the game.

IF they put crash mode in, I WILL buy it, but as it stands, the cons of the game outweight the pros......but only just!! :)

slacker. your nothin but a slacker.

seems cool. but very pointless. i mean will it drive like a hover craft or still drive like a car but visually have its tires off the ground just for looks?

will it be able to go more than 2 feet off the ground? how will it work on jumps?

man burnout you used to be about the crashes. now your starting to be like every other racing game. adding shit that doesnt need to be in the game just because. but i do applaud them for supporting the game. unlike how alot of companies leave out content that could have been there just to have DLC in the future.you know not all games need DLC. i mean come on.

if this game wasnt called burnout. i bet no one would have played it. i had it but it just wasnt the same anymore. i loved all the other versions. but burnout wasnt meant for open world racing. leave that to midnight club. same goes for you need for speed. go back to the hot persuit days.
