Criterion planning four more Burnout Paradise updates photo

Criterion, developer of Burnout Paradise, recently gave their official website a big facelift. In addition to the cosmetic changes, they also put down some new information regarding future updates to Burnout Paradise. Four mysterious future updates are listed on the website, all of which will be revealed over the next four Fridays.

As far as timing goes, the only thing Criterion has listed is Spring 2009. Which really is incredible if one considers the massive amount of free content that the developer has tossed out since the release of the game back in January. One recent update added motorcycles. Motorcycles are dramatically different than cars. They have two wheels (see above) instead of four.

What do you guys think is next? Do you think we’ll finally get planes or a new city? What do you want the most?

I say more bikes and cars or a new island. With Criterion's track record so far I wouldn't be surprised if both.

Well you can already see the bridge being built to the new island, so that's one update. Besides that, no clue. But I am so glad that I bought this game to support the developer. Criterion are saints among men.

More areas, like another seciton of paradise city was added, that would be great. Also moar vehicles is obvious, but the question is what? planes? boats? go-karts?

If all these 4 updates are free I vote Criterion for most awesome company in this generation, seriously. I thought the bike update was already amazing but 4 more updates? my hats off to you criterion.

Scrixx: Naw, I just want to know where are those motherfucking planes.

It'll give me more incentive to get a mic for Paradise.

My thoughts? I'm finally getting into online console gameing, the Dtoid PS3 community is fantastic. Between Burnout and Resistance 2 (beta) I finally feel like we're getting somewhere and I couldn't be happier.

Keep the updates rolling in, I love it.

I wonder if these are finally going to be for-pay updates now that their "Year of Burnout" is over.

That means the Island is delayed! It's weird though since I checked the website yesterday to see if anything had updated and it was just the same. This is really exciting though. GO GO BURNOUT PLANES!

Fuck the planes, I'm hoping for the return of the crash mode. That would rock soooo hard.

It would be cool, if they gave us more achievements instead of the fake ones in the game. However they would have to charge for that. Otherwise planes sound cool. Another map and more modes, freeburn challenges, and i dont fucking know.

Anything new is fine with me. I played through the game 3 times and enjoyed myself a lot.
Personally I would love a full stretched out bike mode with special events for the bikes.

Kudos to Criterion for following the Valve Criteria for DLC - keep it free, make it awesome, retain the userbase.

Planes would help with the backtracking to the start point or not.
