On February 6, Criterion Games will be issuing a huge and free update to Burnout Paradise. The developer has just detailed all of the changes on the official Web site, and it's nothing short of ridiculously impressive.
For instance, the PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game will be getting an in-game "Burnout Store." Here, you'll be able to buy new content like cars and the upcoming Party Pack without having to leave the game. The game will also be getting a much-asked-for "restart" feature that will allow you to restart events without having to drive all the way back to start point (which was totally horrible). This is a feature many gamers have been crying for since release, so it's great to see Criterion listening.
Head over to their Web site for the full list of updates (and images), including info on visual changes, game balancing, and more. It's a big one, and almost guarantees I'll be popping Burnout Paradise back into my console in two weeks.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Many of my friends will buy it as soon as the Legendary car pack is availiable too :)
I'm glad they're still adding to a game, rather than adopting the "It's out, now lets get the next game ready and ignore the problems with the first"!
Which is it- does MS set the prices for DLC or do the developers do it?
That's a really good question; I guess I'm kind of unclear on it myself. If I were to guess, I'd say that maybe Criterion/EA have a bit more clout than Blow or The Behemoth. Although, that's just speculation.
I think, so far as premium skina, none of those from third parties are going for free.
Clarification on how DLC/XBLA pricing works would be interesting, to say the least.
Also came in here to give props to Criterion. I may just have to pick this game up after all.
I really hope EA flexed some muscle and told Microsoft to let this be free or not have it at all, because if EA is going to release this for free then its obvious they dont care about making money on it... which in turn means they wont be afraid to let DLC go directly to PC and PS3 and circumvent 360.
This is a trend I hope more publishers take with Microsoft.
It's worth picking up, for sure. I think it's relatively cheap now, too. I've been starting to play again recently, and these upcoming updates have me pretty pumped.
burnout paradise is def one of my fave games for my ps3!
great job criterion!!!!!
I feel worse about the auto-barrel roll thing, tho.
Wtf. I am buying this game again (sold it).
