What is it about Final Fantasy VII? We all try to be cool. "Overrated," we scoff amongst our enclave of pals as we mock Cloud on forums and draw comical mutilation fanart of Aeris (SPOILER: SHE DIES). And yet, I defy you to watch this trailer and not become inexplicably excited. Not to feel the tightening of the pants, if you will.
It's a montage of cutscenes from the upcoming Crisis Core for PSP, releasing September 13th in Japan, with release dates anticipated sometime thereafter for just about everywhere else. There's also a little gameplay footage in there, which looks rather nice. As the game is a prequel to FFVII starring Zack and based on the events in Nibelheim prior to the canon with which we're already acquainted, you'll see many familiar characters here -- Cloud, Aeris, Sephiroth and the Turks, to name a few, along with some new guys; a veritable buffet of very pretty, intense-looking men.
The game is stirringly taglined, "Men who shed tears for their own fate, and for their friends." Maybe you, too, will shed manly tears as you watch this; maybe you won't. Go ahead and try to resist the wave of chills and stirring nostalgia, especially at the trailer's end. Just don't pretend you're not buying a PSP for this game.

This made me tight in the pants, not gonna lie. And also, watching this made me want a updated/true sequel/prequel to Crono Trigger so much more. If they can pull this off, they could pull that off.
I played through Final Fantasy VII- twice, and I am honestly not that interested. Don't get me wrong, I love FF VII, it's my favourite Playstation game and my favourite Final Fantasy. I just got kind of bored with Final Fantasy and all Sqaure Enix games after FFIX. Still, they ought to stay true to the format of the game. It looks like they're modeling the battle system after FF XII, which I didn't like. This game looks too different from the original to elicit any nostalgic feelings from me. I hope they keep the Turks theme music though. That was awesome.
@TONX, I agree, its gonna be hard for the PSP to handle this, which may mean that they may not add WiFi Multiplayer because Sony (unlike the PSP hacking community) have not figured out how to have 333 Mhz + WiFi yet...
Ah crap, I can’t even legitimately say that...I mean, yeah, I don’t play RPGs, but the main reasons are that (A) I don’t have the money or time to spread them out over more than one video game unit (PS3), and (B) I never was a fan of handheld gaming in general.
Also, you didn’t mention that the whole thing was in freakin’ Japanese, and with no subtitles!
it looks way too much like kingdom hearts for me. Besides it's at least a year away from the states. I was excited for the vincent game too and then I played it and got extremely angry.
Never got into the FF series. My brother in law just gave me FFIII to play on the ds, and Im bored one hour into it. After earthbound, I haven't had the patience to play turn based RPGs, or practically any RPGs for that matter.
Is this one of them femmy games? This is one of them femmy games, ain't it? I don't want to play no femmy games. When's Duke Nukem coming out? Where's Chobot? Is there an Olivia Munn game coming out?

Damn, so much Haterade getting passed around. If I had a PSP, I'd need a new chair right now, but I love the FF7 universe so much, I'm down with almost everything associated with it unless it sucks ass.
