Craig Peck reveals that GoldenEye is coming to the Wii photo

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that you have no freakin' idea who Craig Peck is. Neither do I. But he did us all a favor by listing that he had worked on the Wii version of GoldenEye in his CV.

Animator Craig Peck was working on GoldenEye 2010 for the Wii all summer this year:

Animator – GoldenEye 2010 (Wii)
Animator on Activision’s James Bond series for the Nintendo Wii assisting in: Key frame animation, the preparation and clean-up of motion capture data, prop animation, in-game cut-scene animation, scene layout, and camera animation.

He did this while working at Eurocom. Eurocom has done porting of other games before, so it may be that they are doing this for Bond now.

Thanks, Peck!

Woah! Seriously?

So XBLA gets Perfect Dark and the Wii gets GoldenEye? Oh I smell a fanboy war a-comin'.

Some of those tasks almost sound like the development of a new game, like Rogue Agent. *shudders*

That's weird... that description makes it sound like new work is being done on the game. Or a new game altogether.

I don't think the Wii can handle the graphics of Goldeneye.

PS2 did too had a Goldeneye game. Goldeneye Rogue Agent. Which was shit.

Also, ACTIVISION'S James Bond series? Yea, this definitely isn't the N64 game.

XBLA gets Perfect Dark HD.

Wii gets Goldeneye.

While I love FPS controls on the Wii, Perfect Dark running at 60 fps is so far more superior, it's not even funny.

This is actually a really odd thing for someone to be putting on a resume/CV for the following reasons:

1. GoldenEye 007 was developed by Rare before it was wholly acquired by Microsoft
2. GoldenEye: Rogue Agent was developed and published by EA.
3. Currently, Activision holds the license to develop new James Bond games, but that doesn't give them the rights to past James Bond games.

So what the hell could "Activision's James Bond 2010" possibly be? Either this is a completely new game developed by Activision using their license, or somehow the legal shit got sorted out and Activision, under the rights of their license, are remaking GoldenEye for the Wii.
Bluefusion's Avatar - Comment posted on 10/26/2009 11:35

Well, if they are very careful with the port they might manage to make Goldeneye run at a comfortable 30fps on the Wii. Might have to remove some graphical features. I'm eager to see how they'll pull it off.

Eurocom also developed Dead Space: Extraction.

Also, it is likely a new game that will attempt to capitalize on the nostalgia of GoldenEye 64.

If Quantum of Solace is any indication as to what Activision has in store for a James Bond Wii shooter, though, than the only type of hype generated will be based on chortles rather than anticipation.
Retrofraction's Avatar - Comment posted on 10/26/2009 12:00

you seem confused MuddBstrd

you see it was Nintendo that developed 007 for the n64 and they paid for rare to help them on it.

so rare was working without any rights to that game what so ever, it was nintendo that had the rights/credit and rights to the graphics and sound.

yes Activision has the rights to that game but if nintendo asked them or paid them enough they can get permission.

Rare unlike Nintendo does not even have Developing rights/ money, so yeah it will probably never come out on 360 without Nintendo making a lot of money.

Rare did claim to have a working XBLA GoldenEye prototype however. Without The Big N's approval isn't even a closed prototype illegal?

I personally preferred Perfect Dark, and to be honest, I don't see the online multiplayer of Goldeneye being any cop if it's on the Wii.

Then again, this is really good news for Wii owners.

What the hell's wrong with you people? Even the damn PS3 got attacked already? Where'd that come from?

No way this is the N64 Goldeneye, not with Microsoft 1. Owning Rare 2. Already putting Perfect Dark on XBLA.
So it's probably a sequel/followup to that rogue agent crap. Which is too bad; the granddaddy of console FPS on wii-mote could be entertaining.

I'm guessing it's a brand new game featuring the same story and everything.

I can see Activision trying to capitalize on the nostalgia we all have for the original game.

Which is what GohanGVO said.

This comment is now useless.

Goddammit. :<

I'm torn on this. If it's the N64's GoldenEye, then I want it so much, but...if it's being published/developed by Activision, then I want nothing to do with it.

Why does life taunt me like this?

I consider myself a Nintendo fanboy, but I find it fully comprehensible. GoldenEye is an easier license to acquire than Rareware's originals now.

Well the bottom line is that no one here will be able figure out who owns the rights to publish this when even the parties involved can figure it out & settle it.

no, if they have not sold it. Other wise you would find a lot of simular law suits against many Source MOD makers aka 007 mod perfect dark mod.

it is not elligal if you build it from the base up for just a beta that is not going out to the public for money.

Also I smell that Microsoft my have made a deal with Nintendo to get Perfect Dark without any law suits for giving Nintendo 007 without bothering them

( since in fact Micrsoft really owns most of PD, and Nintendo owns most of 007 the game it makes even )

personaly I like Perfect dark better, mainly because there were bots and tons of custimiztion and saving that 007 really lacked.

But hey I will admit I own a wii and really don't care what happens eather way cause I can just emulate it on my computer and make it look like a sega dreamcast game.

So all along we were waiting for Craig Peck to give the go ahead for GoldenEye re-release.:)
Myself I prefer Perfect Dark to GoldenEye but don't have a X360, and although I have both on the N64, going back and playing with that controller can be quite a challenge.

I'm currently lol'ing at the fact that the majority of the comments is "wtf 10/10 thats impossible especially from Nintendo bs"

Even in the new "5 for average" scale, I can't see giving this game less than an 8.5(I personally would give it a 9.5, as it is the funnest game I have played in a while). At this point people are inspecting the littlest details to point out as a flaw so it could get a 9.5/10 or whatever just so it isn't a 10. Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. It's just a score given by a reviewer who is human. This human has a opinion, like many of us do. This opinions fluctuates depending on what the topic is.

To me, Dale simply gave it a 10/10 because it was a fun game to play, especially to him. It reminded him of earlier enjoyments from when he was playing what he considered the best Mario game and reminded him of the reasons why that game was considered the best. Recognizing that these reasons were fully present in the new game, SMG2 was just as good if not better than SMW. Or at least, that is just what I'm getting at.

Nonetheless, I need to go pick this up soon and hook my PC up to a new TV since the old one broke (manufacturer's fault). I really enjoyed SMG and hope to get more difficulty from this game - hopefully not as hard as Luigi's 100 Purple coins. I hated that.

Also, as a closing comment to all the 360 and PS3 fans who are complaining about this 10/10 score, u mad. (im not saying all of you, just those guys who find it incomprehensible that a system like the Wii could hold such an awesome game).
