No more playing around, the Crackdown demo is really going to come this time. According to Major Nelson and the official forums, the demo will hit for Xbox Live Gold members (membership has its privileges) on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 2 a.m. Pacific. Here's your chance to test out the game before you buy it on Feb. 20 -- you know, for that Halo 3 beta.
Not-really-joking aside, Crackdown is a solid game. Every chance I've had to play it, the title has proven itself to be more than just a way to get into that coveted Halo 3 beta program.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Then I was the first person to reserve a second copy after the beta announcement.
Crackdown looks pretty damn cool, and I've always felt that pre-release demos show that the developer is confident in their game.
It's correct to say that the entire game has cell-shaded style, regardless of region. It looks pretty slick in HD, too.
I doubt more games will pick up on this particular style, but it will be interesting in a couple years to look back and see how people think. I'm guessing they'll say it was a (somewhat) revolutionary and daring unique style, but I could be wrong.
Does Eragon count as a game the developers were confident in?
