Crackdown 2: You know it's coming, so what would you want changed? photo

Realtime Worlds senior designer Stephen Iannetta is already talking Crackdown 2 and mentioned so in a recent interview with CVG. Take a look:

"We've learnt some lessons and if we did do Crackdown 2... I'd love to see it happen," he said.

"I think again it comes to how you can really choose how you approach the missions, and I'd really like to turn the contrast up on that. I'd really like to look at giving the players so many options at how they can do it."

Crackdown -- despite the occasional slowdown and lag spike online -- is pretty much all-around awesome. But, there are certainly some areas that could be vastly improved. For instance, the game is just begging for an MMO-style makeover -- it's already like a grounded City of Heroes on steroids. But what are your thoughts on the possibility of a sequel? What would you want changed or added?

And if someone mentions that you want an invite to the Halo 4 beta with Crackdown 2, then Nex will come to your house and kill your children.

Customizable agents.

A specialized class set, so you could make a rad, balanced "SWAT" team in multiplayer/co-op.

Different mission types.

Air vehicles.

Also, cocks.

More customization!

Loving it so far. Awesome that random people even are joining my games.

I'd like to see:

-Driving improved, the car handling sucks..:(
-Larger world...let's see more than 3 islands, since they go so quick
-Perhaps the kingpin is a multi-tiered mission where he escapes 2 of your attempts and you have to chase him.
-Let me have a parachute for those really big drops :)
-Don't give up the rocket launchers so soon, made it easy
-Unlockable weapons, or just more in general. It's the future, I'm sure we've got some cool crap by then.
-You have to have a better story this time around. It worked for Crackdown, but a sequel we're going to expect more.
-How about more than 2 for co-op? I'm sure it's doable.
-Option to listen to music anytime kind of like Tony Hawk series. I haven't listened to one full song yet, since I'm never in a car!
-Different agents should be skilled at different things. One maybe can set special explosives, another is stealthy etc
-Stealth would be cool, infiltrate to murder a really hard underboss instead of going in guns blazing
-Some more voice acting or AI for civilians would be cool. Make them do more interesting things besides run and scream.

More players in online games, 2 doesn't cut it.

Also PvP or team vs. team matches of deathmatch or capture the flag or territory holding battlefield-esque games.

Also some flying and boating vehicles would be nice.

I just have to mention how cool it is when you're jumping along and you get hit by a rocket, get knocked through the air flipping and twirling and land in safety.

I like some of the ones I've read, like Customizable Agents (maybe some female agents too) and the Jump Kick. Also, I'd like to see more variation as far as missions go.

Maybe in Crackdown 2 they can take the game further. Where the Police Dept. reigns supreme in Pacific City and now they must defend it against outside powers. Imagine a war type setting on a real city. That would be awesome.

The ability to punch would be nice. Umm...Some sort of competitive play, but no deal where everyone's only on a smaller sector of the city. Character customization would be cool, but only if they expand the multiplayer section to an almost MMO-like level. It's a bitch to think of improvements right now though cause I'm still bashing my way through the game.

I liked the idea of once you completely level your agent, you have the ability to put all your stars in one section. So put all your stars in agility and you can jump a 1/4 mile and run so fast you can sprint up the side of buildings, or if you put them in explosives your grenades are little nukes. It lets you set yourself up for more fun, and its kind of an end game bonus.

I'd also like to see some powers, maybe fire, ice, or laser vision. The skys the limit with this type of game, as long as its simple and fun.

Sweet maybe this time we can get:
Motorcycles
Aircraft.
Watercraft
Melee Weapons
Female Agents
Super Powered Enemies
Weather
Ability to enter buildings
And better (or have some) side missions
Let there be random crimes happening all around the city that you can crackdown or ignore (like True Crimes Streets of L.A.)
Examples: Bank robberies, Purse Snatching, Car Jacking, Prostitution, Drug Dealing, Gang Wars, Hit and Runs, Reckless Driving or Drunk Drivers

Yeah, punching would be good too. You can hit enemies with the butt of your weapon already though. Maybe grabbing living enemies. Swinging them by their feet like a baseball bat.

Shit, I've been waiting for this post since I started the demo. I have so many ideas that I don't know if I'll remember them all right now but here goes nothing:

- Most important: Improve combat! I don't want kingpin battles where I hit him with a grenade/rocket/kick once and he's basically finished because I can just spam the grenade/rocket/kick button.

- Havok is nice in some ways, but when recovery time for kicks/explosions is like 3 seconds or more, it makes battles ridiculous. This is related to the above suggestion about combat, but as an example, I'd like to see my agent recover mid-air and do some fucking backflips and land on his feet instead of ragdolling it all over the place (hinkmania's with me on this one).

- If the fucking gangsters are so good at dodging cars, why are the civilians fucking dumbasses? Racing is pointless since you kill so many civilians along the way. Civilians just walk along like they don't have a care in the world when you're cruising down the sidewalk laying on your horn. What the hell is that about?

- Customizable agent skins?

- Deep voice guy needs to shut the fuck up sometimes. I'm aware that there are training videos; you don't have to tell me 5 times.

- More varied boss battles. Every boss battle follows the same formula (dude in a building/protected area with a shitload of gangsters guarding him). How about some bosses that cruise around in armored cars? How about bosses in huge mechs? Give us something besides "kill gangsters to get to boss, kill boss, rinse and repeat"

- Make the game harder using better AI (or something), not using better guns. The Volk and Muertos are basically the same except that the Volk have some better guns, so when a dozen Volk are trying to kill you, you might actually have to take cover sometimes. The only time I actually had to use strategy in the game was when I decided to kill the Volk kingpin before killing any of his generals.

- Make driving more fun. Give us some huge ass ramps to play around with somewhere (without having to get out of our car and drive a truck somewhere). Cars with machine guns on them are sweet, but you have to do so much unpleasant driving to get to that point that a lot of people won't even do it.

It's already really fun, but with some improvements in specific areas, this game could be transcendent.

Hink, you're involved. lol

I wish each character had a different animation every time they melee'd, but whatever.

Also, two people can get into one car, but you cant shoot? WTF?

At least 4 person co-op, or hell, make it a MMORPG where you can be the good or bad guys. All the above statements they stole from my brain too. Good ideas though.

Salami, wait, WHAT?!!!?!!!!?!

Is that actually in the game? I'm going to go quit my job right this second and go home to play more Crackdown if you're telling the truth.

Okay, so for C2, they need:

Deathmatching, city wide. Slap a timelimit on that sucker to make it fun, and possibly have it to where your victim you're pursuing leaves a trail so he's not fucking impossible to find.

The dude can carry a 2 ton trashbin, but not a Gatling gun? okay...

Flamethrowers.

Timed exploding projectiles. The Torque bow was awesome and every game needs a crossbow weapon.

Car collection - Put in more than one place to retrieve good cars. We can get ammo from 9 different places, but cars only one place? I'm not asking for 9, but 3 woulda been nice...

A story would've been nice. I would've almost preferred to be able to fight many more smaller gangs than what I've encountered so far. And they'd be welcome to reuse the terrain, IMO, the game certainly encourages running around.

The city seems VERY empty outside city limits. The park and quarry have NO ONE in them at all except for bad guys.

More than one reaction from citizens. They always run in panic from me or criminals. Don't these people have normalcy in their lives?

My friend was commenting how a crackdown game would be fun if you were the bad guy and had to kill cops instead. I didn't think that was such a great idea for obvious reasons, but it was an interesting concept. GTA SA did the whole gang vs gang.

Female players would be nice. They have time to skin and adapt them now. Also the ability to lay booby traps beyond those remote mines would be cool. Maybe some more car-centric spy-hunter type weapons. Toss caltrops out the back.

Make the race challenges integrate into a mission, look there goes Sanchez! We gotta catch him!

Have Adam West voice the contact for the Agency. I thought that guy sounded like him all game anyways lol.

There should be certain buildings or structures that you can demolish (How awesome would it be to blow up the pier). Then over time there can be a construction crew or something show up and start rebuilding. Naturally, you'd be able to blow up what they're rebuilding before they're done, or you can just let them do their f'n jobs.

how about a "status" screen showing orbs collected (and not collected) and races by island?

enemies with helicopters and tanks

more varied locales for bosses to prevent you from spamming the rocketlauncher "fire" button and wtfpwning them in mere seconds with 4 star kicks to the noggin

more varied OPTIONAL missions with varied objectives

once one gang is defeated, whatever gang is most powerful at the time starts "encroaching" on the liberated islands in an attempt to gain turf. i.e. turfwars between the remaining gangs and the cops.

- Female agents.
- Multi-player death match where you can set how many stars players have so it's an even match.
- Up-to 4 Player Co-Op
- Some type of aircraft
- Hold Attacks (I'd love to see the agents do a piledriver like Hulk did in Ultimate Destruction)
- More missions that vary (like pick up a criminal and drive them to jail while his buddies try to destroy your car in order to save him)
- Better music
- More islands

- More upgrades and abilities. It'd be awesome if there was an upgrade system similar to Hulk Ultimate Destruction, so that it'd be possible to gain new punches, kicks and throws.

- More vehicles (which I'm sure is going to happen either way.) I was actually pretty surprised when I realized there were no flying vehicles or boats.

- This may be a bit much but, GIBS! Hahaha. I mean hey, why not? With as many gigantic explosions as there are in the game, you'd think you'd see limbs flying too. Of course this isn't really a necessity, but it'd be pretty sweet! Bring back gibs!

- Multiplayer. I'm very happy co-op is in the first one, even if it's having some issues (that patch needs to come out VERY soon.) But it'd be awesome to include other forms of gametypes. Like Capture The Flag, Territory, or just some good ol' Deathmatch / Team Deathmatch.

- More indepth story / characters. I love the fact that Crackdown is a game you can just pick up and play, but I must admit, I can't help but feel like the game is missing something.

I could probably think of more, but that's enough and it's almost time to leave work. Soo, deuce!

That announcer annoyance has to go. NO MORE REPEATING PHRASES EVERY TWO SECONDS. I'm on the beach and he says "Hey, I can see my house from here!" I say not SH!T, ITS A GIANT F***ING TOWER!

Make the bosses more challenging. Like have superpowered guards, and less enemy's with huge amounts o f explosisves in the thousands.

More weapons please! Make some rather interesting ones too.

Make the ability to specialize in certain skills. Sure, allow them to reach badass levels, but then make htem specialize in the beginning so they get bonuses for those skills along the way.

Make hte civilian AI better. I can't tell you how annoying it is when I honk my horn only for civilians to turn around and just stand there in front of my car cursing me. I hit them doing 2mph and they die. Hey, they asked for it.

Make superpowered gang members in general. This would make it so much more fun and challenging.

Add an adversarial mode. Like being able to fight other Agents online, but with restrictions. Like no hitting an enemy while on the ground or something. Because then it becomes a stop-a-thon.

I like some of the ideas on here.

The parachute idea would be sooo helpful.

-military vehicles...definaely tanks. there are police but no army
-an agency helicopter armed to the teeth (possibly unlockable when you get to a certain star rating)
-a team of 4 characters even in single player like in gears of war, and other players can drop in and out
-motorbikes
cant wait for crackdown 2!
