What do you all want from a Crackdown sequel? The same great I-am-a-badass-hear-me-roar style of play? Possibly with more options for cooperative multiplayer? That's pretty much what I want out of it.
It's hard to tell what's going on with this new mutant stuff, but it certainly looks like there's greater emphasis on you being an all-powerful entity of destruction in Crackdown 2. A major plus, in my book. With Ruffian developing rather than Realtime Worlds, I am somewhat cautious, to be frank.
Like I said, the mutants could be fun, or they could be totally silly. If it means more bodies in the city for you to fight with your co-op buddies, that could potentially provide an adequate challenge for the agents.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Meet the rest of the team
Seems like I've been waiting on this sequel forever. Maybe it hasn't been as long as it's felt, but with how surprisingly enjoyable the first one was, it just feels like 10 years in the making.
Word to that Zeta. I loved Crackdown. I simply can't wait for the sequel after seeing this trailer. The game looks good, it's over the top, has new weapons, vehicles(did you see the car bouncing around on those energy bungie cords!?) and coop. Heck yes dude
I love Crackdwon and like what I have seen of the footage of Crackdown 2 being played by the dev team (Ruffian) but this video really looks kind of randomly slapped together and misguidedly set to a fake Louis Armstrong song that has the word "shit" in it as it's primary comedic hook.
That said I wnat to kick trucks off of bridges into rivers for Orbs and I want to pulp mutants and launch rockets and jump and race cars. The sooner the better. I suspect that this game and Just Cause 2 will make me every bit as happy as inFamous, Prototype, Crackdown, Saint's Row 2, and Red Faction Guerilla did, if not more so.
Not sure what people are seeing to get all hyped about this. Looks like pretty much the first game with some armor and some upgraded graphics. I'm hoping that future information will expand on the gameplay a bit.
I will also second a Crackdown 2 with a much better 'purpose' in it and some much better writers.
Blowing shit up is good and all, but after 10 hours or so, the novelty wears off. IF it has proper coop, mission-sharing (like objectives) and such, then I can see myself being lost. First game had coop as an afterthought, your partner had no idea what you were doing, he didnt have the same mission objectives and he even saw his own orbs.
This game is fun as long as it has just a tiny bit of substance added to it.
The co-op mode kinda sucked balls for me in the first Crackdown. It was very laggy for me when shit got crazy. If they make it work in this with even more than two (I think I saw six at the end) players, then this will be awesome.
Just for my anal need to keep credit where it's due, let's keep the gaming history books straight. Borderlands took their "look" from Crackdown, not the other way around.
No one said it yet here I don't think...but I could see some kid who just started gaming throwing that out there. "Duuude, Crack 2 totally ripped off Borderlands, yo!"
And Jet Set Radio might have been the very first.
Anyway, they throw even a little more of a plot, nothing too deep but just something a little involving, I'm sold.
Crackdown was great except for that one thing. Plot or motive to why I was destroying everything. Technically there was a story....but not really.
Song used in trailer is "Would You?" by Richard Swift, but it sounds like they changed it from "fall in love with me" to "blow it up with me." Still the song oddly worked for me somewhat.
I loved Crackdown - that is until I found out that most of the challenges were ONLINE ONLY. I also didn't get the confusing "car evolvement" system. I never had a car evolve, no matter what I did they stayed the same. The online stuff ruined it for me however, and I hated to do it but I had to put it down.
So my question is - is there going to be a return of that feature? I would like a separate experience when I am playing offline - one that doesn't involve constant hard-sell and nagging to "go online". Im going to wait and see on this one - once bitten, twice shy and all that.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

The trailer was kind of a weak production though.
I think Just Cause 2 actually looks better though, so I'm not too sad about not being able to play this.

Skills for Kills, agent. Skills for kills.
As long as they improve the way agents evolve, more mission variety, and a ton of stuff to play around with, I'm all over it.
