Crackdown 2 is going to be big. If you have any doubt that the superhero fantasy conduit will be a meaty prospect, get a load of this -- Ruffian has promised that the sequel will feature "thousands" of enemies on the screen at any given time. That's quite a lot!
"During the day you've got to battle against The Cell, which is the remnants of the gangs and civilians who have joined together against The Agency," explains executive producer Peter Connelly. "So you've got quite a formidable set of adversaries with thousands of characters on screen for you to mow over or eradicate which ever way you see fit.
"You've a bigger uber-mission and more of a focus in terms of the mission structure ... We like to think of Crackdown 2 as very much a toy box for people to experience and play with. And we've given them more toys to use in that toy box this time round."
Connelly also adds that the 16-player online mode is full of "insanity, chaos and great fun," which is exactly what one wants to hear when they're talking about the sequel to Crackdown. I have to say that Crackdown 2 is easily one of my big picks for this year. Anybody else excited for it?

I'll be interested in those numbers if they represented more than bumps in the road or exploding limbs.
hpv:
Of course, dude, it's freaking Crackdown. The new "renegade orbs" ftw!
Never played Crackdown, but I remember someone, probably on podtoid, mentioning it's like a GTA with God mode on. Well if it's like that, I'm not interested at all.
...who am I kidding, I should just buy Borderlands.
HPV nearly didn't winge then.
You're incorrect, plain and simple. While Crackdown 2 doesn't have stunning visuals, the visuals couldn't ever be done on a PS2. The texture resolution. Yes, it look cell-shaded, but every object has great detail and it bumpmapped. The draw distance. Crackdown offered some of the best draw distance of any sandbox game. Crackdown 2 looks to expand on that. No sandbox game had the graphical detail (technically speaking) of a Crackdown or Crackdown 2.
Next time, please get your facts straight, my friend. Spreading misinformation is a sickness that needs to be cleansed from this godforsaken world.
Jesus Christ, man, I was speaking figuratively, of course I know PS2 couldn't handle Crackdown. It's like if I said it looks like an N64 game, you'd be like: As a matter of fact it's not, because bla bla. Dude, come on.
Hmm, didn't sound too sarcastic. Don't get pissed off for being called out on straight up bullshit.
