Cowabunga! Gameplay video of TMNT: Turtles in Time photo

A few days ago, Destructoid brought you the first look at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time remake for XBLA. Now, thanks to pedrovay2003 (via Gamervision), we have the first video footage of the game in action.

The footage was taken off-screen so the quality is horrible. Can't say I'm impressed yet. I'd want to see footage straight from Ubisoft before I can decide if this is something I'd like ... Oh, who am I kidding? I freaked out when I saw an original TMNT action figure at a swap meet a couple of weeks back. I'm going to love this no matter what.

Check out the gameplay footage for yourself while you can after the break. One thing is for sure, this lady will just LOVE the remake.

Still not a fan of the art style, but it's interesting that they've made it more 3D. As in, you can hit guys who are "above" you, as opposed to just those on a horizontal plane. That could open things up a bit more.

quite literally, I bought my 360 for the turtles arcade game remake (I was on the edge, and that pushed me over). This is a no-brainer for me.

@Monodi

Oh, there will be sewer surfing. :P

This version of the game is supposedly going to be based on the arcade version, not the SNES version, so there will be a few differences. Sewer Surfin' is definitely in the arcade version, but it's an actual stage, not a bonus stage.

None of the arcade/SNES stuff has been confirmed, but Tokka being in the Skull and Crossbones level like he was in the arcade version is kind of a giveaway. In fact, the Technodrome state wasn't in the arcade version at all, which doesn't make sense to me at all. I hope they put all the SNES content in the remake somewhere.

Leo always had two swords... WHERE'S YOUR MIND AT, MAN?!? :P

Seriously, though, he has two swords in everything. Every game, show, comic, anything I've seen that's Turtles-related, he's had two swords, even in the original Turtles in Time.

Let it be known that side scrolling beat 'em ups were my all-time favorite genre growing up. All we need is a Streets of Rage 2 remake, maybe even The Simpsons Arcade remade and everything will be complete. OH! AND SMASH TV!

I don't understand the need for a full blown remake.

The original arcade game's graphics were just fine for the original on XBLA. Why upgrade this one when it was just as good in 2D?

Anyway, was this going to be based on the arcade or the SNES version? Because I'm really expecting some Bebop and Rocksteady action when this comes out.

Word is that it's going to be more like the arcade version, but I'm hoping the SNES extras are in there. I like that version better, personally. Also, yes, that video scares me, therefore I had to make people aware of its existence. :P

That video was pretty underwhelming actually. There was no real character that the SNES version had. :(

I'm hoping that's just because it's still early and they haven't put in the detail yet.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is based on a true story: Chuck Norris once swallowed a turtle whole, and when he crapped it out, the turtle was six feet tall and had learned karate.

CTZ, next time you're on a boat talking to game developers, ask if they can just port over the REAL ninja turtles game. Not some 3D remake.

Call me skeptical, but I want the REAL ninja turtles in time.

Honestly, I'm terribly sick of ports of SNES games with 0 new content. I could play those games anytime. I'm pretty excited about the new 3D graphics, even if they're not all that great, because it "feels" like they actually took some time, rather than effortlessly porting something; if every dev did that, we'd just be the virtual console. Now, if this releases as a direct port with 0 new content, and questionable 3D graphics, I'd be disappointed.
