I agree Epic, sometimes MS makes me just want to face palm. Sure, getting DLC earlier is nice and all that but I just wish they'd play nice for once with other people. Let's blame Kinect!

I'm personally not going to get excited about this until I play it. I've never been a fan of matchmaking, what I love about CS:S is that I can play on a server and get a sense of community.

Half Life team if a different team from the Counter Strike team, wonder if it be Match making and self search as well that be cool depending on your mood you could either jump in quick or go to a server with a community.
I prefer Day of Defeat, personally, but CS is still very technical and less arcade-ish like most "modern" shooters.

I love how they're ignoring killstreaks and weapon upgrades. Having competitive shooters require time to unlock weapons and perks unbalances the game when you get a group with varying amounts of play time put into it. Also, late adopters won't have to worry about being at a disadvantage....except for on game mechanics and such.

mouse+keyboard =/= skill, skill = skill. Mouse+keyboard just doesn't gimp you like the controller does, so the difference between skilled and nooby players is more apparent.

Ok, I love the idea, but you have a day one sale if they do what they did with Portal 2 and include a steampass with the Ps3 version. I'm surprised no one asked if this was going to be the case while Valve was at PAX.

But irrelevant? That is the LAST thing Counter-Strike will EVER be. Just because I'm not a fan of the game doesn't mean I'll ever deny it's legacy, it's importance, or it's rabid popularity even to this day. Even as dated as it is, it's still a hot title, still has sold at least 25 million copies, still is played to this day, and is still loved by millions. Which is absolutely amazing for a twelve year old game that takes almost zero advantage of what the source engine offers.

I imagine it will have a "ranked" matchmaking mode, and a casual "choose your server" mode. I pray this is the case, anyway. One thing that kind of disappoints me though is the recycled old maps - Great maps, sure, but I'd like something new. I've already played the hell out of aztec, italy, office, dust, and dust2. A fresh coat of paint, so to speak, isn't going to fundamentally change the dynamics of how those maps are played.
@Aequitas - I think for some of the maps it's gonna be a bit more than just a "fresh coat of paint", with dust1 for example being rebalanced and having a 2nd exit from the underpass section available which could really change tactics used, not to mention how much chaos the inclusion of firebombs will most likely cause; as for new maps I'm pretty sure I saw at least 1 new area in that CSGO trailer, either way when the Source SDK gets updated or CS:GO Authoring Tools get released you know shortly after the mod community will be all over it like a rash

I was playing CS:S this weekend and it just got me more hyped for this one. I barely even recognize the maps with the new coat of paint they are getting! Should be interesting but I am SO glad to hear the core gameplay is unchanged. They are right that that is what makes it so awesome.
It will be nice to see a game on the competitive scene that does not have to have half of its features removed to be balanced.

Sounds awesome. I hope they do a PS3 special like with Portal 2, but I'm easily sticking with the PC version.

If they've got cross-platform play in, having a working skill system will be absolutely essential, because it goes without saying that most KB/M players will wipe the floor with the console players, and that's before you get into the more experienced userbase on PC anyway.

What about autoaim? Consoles are notorious for having autoaim because the controller is not as good as mouse. How will they balance that between the consoles and PC?

@Jon B: Unless the console players are using a KB/M too. :) It is confirmed that PS3 players can use KB/M which is awesome for those of us that have them. That said I will stick to PC for this one. I wonder if it will be like Portal 3 and you essentially get it for all platforms too. That would be sweet. I would totally get the PS3 version to have 3 versions then (PC, PS#, and Mac). Valve are so great.

Finally another game with it. I hate how very few fps games have this. This brings me back to halo 2 and halo 3. My only concern is how they will do hosting for the game as the connection to other players especially if its from another region vastly affects the gameplay. The very casual user won't really notice, but it really affects how people play.

Is this going to be a full retail release on consoles; or is going to be a XBLA and PSN release? Either way, I'm stoked.
No disrespect, after all I am a fan of console shooters as well, but there is no way console players are going to be able to go toe to toe with some of the hardcore PC CS fans without any aim assist. You might get one or two players with ridiculous reactions on a controller but most won't be able to.
Hopefully there matchmaking by skill works well.
