Counter-Strike: GO gets new mode, maps, and map tools
Valve, apparently too busy at DICE to release a press release, put out some new images and info on some very welcome Counter-Strike: GO updates. The most significant addition is Map Workshop, a new extension of Steam that lets CS players view, download and rate maps created by the community. Players can also follow their favorite mappers -- something that appeals to me, as I often followed mappers' -- shout outs to Nipper -- busted GeoCities pages, back in the day. As part of the launch, Valve revealed two new modes: Control and Rooftop Control. Control is like Call of Duty's Domination mode, where captured points on a map control the ability to spawn. When a team runs out of lives (through respawning), the match ends. Tailoring the popular mode to CS, in this version, controlling points rewards teams with cash to spend on weapons and health. Rooftop Control is also centered on a team taking control points, except the opposing team is sniping from across a building. AWP fans rejoice! No word on when or if these new modes will be officially added to the game, but they are currently available to play on in dedicated servers. Map Workshop is also now open to players. This update is a nice assurance that Valve will continue to support the game and community. CS:GO is 50% off on until Monday, so now is the time to grab the game if you haven't yet (IT'S GOOD!) Map Workshop and new game mode added to Counter-Strike: GO [NeoGAF] Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
