Could you have earned these GoldenEye XBLA achievements? photo

I have been privy to some rather interesting game-related things this morning, not least this particular little gem. Passed on by a personally trusted source who I shall refer to only as Mr. Chips, here is a list of what may or may not be achievements for GoldenEye 007 on Xbox Live Arcade.

Bear in mind that this is no proof the game is still in the works. In fact, Rare's official line is that, whether the game was in development or not, it currently is doing absolutely nothing with the IP. Also, while Mr. Chips has shown me plenty of photographs and diagrams of these achievements, there is no official way of confirming that they are definitely related to GoldenEye

What we do know is that the achievements absolutely exist, are Bond-flavored, and are in line with Xbox Live Arcade's Gamerscore policy, amounting to a total of 200 Gamerpoints. From that, you may draw your own conclusion. Could it be GoldenEye? Or could it be something else from Rare's back catalog, like Perfect Dark 64? The studio is known for throwing some red herrings around, the Bond-themed names could be just that.

Take a look at these achievements (beyond the jump) and let us know if you could earn them all, had the game come out.

The only one I'm not sure about is Sprinter. It will take a while but, I think I could get them all.

I think I could probably manage all of them, except for the Sprinter. I'm absolute shite at timed anything.

You know, did we really want to play GoldenEye in 200X? I'm not so sure. Also, they spelled "armor" wrong.

No probably not.

But if it was for Perfect Dark 64... thats a different story. I used to kick the asses of those Dark Sims. Those things were nuts they defied the game mechanics. They like ran up walls and shit.

Like a survival horror game or a JRPG, the thing that made goldeneye fun as multiplayer was the horrible controls and engine limitations. Those two together made for a leveled playing field where no one stayed on top for too long. Failure from these limitations resulted in someone next to you getting a kill, and you wouldn't get frustrated because the bank would err in your favor next round.

I played a whole lot of Goldeneye back in the day, but I recently played a few matches with my brother and it just doesn't hold up very well for me. However with a new control scheme that might change my view.

Also, I support the spelling of armour as is!

Sprinter would be hard, but the rest I could probably pull off.

Perhaps they're talking about Armour Hot Dogs?

I would've played the fuck out of this. If they have any sense, they'll still find a way to release it.

well do you say the word arm-our, or arm-or. either way we still pronounce it like it were armer! touché salesman!!!!

plus agent moo, i love our intimate times in cinncinnati but i must disagree with your game mechanics issue. in my hay day we played this game religiously in multiplayer, and we had our guru gosu friend matt who memorized all of the spawns for each of the 3 lvls on library and also the office one. so we would spawn and proximity mines would b our down fall. and he also had ridiculously good aim for the crack controls that were golden eye. he must have some defect that makes him more tuned to using them!

Oh hell yeah ... I could get all of these achievements. I remember spending many hours trying to unlock the cheats. Remember trying to beat the second level (was it facility?) in something ridiculous like 2:13? At one point you had to throw a timed mine and shoot it out of the air to kill two guards so you could run past them. That was so freaking difficult.

The game is partially owned by Nintendo and Microsoft, since they bought Rare. Why the hell can't these two just agree to release the game on both platforms and split the profit down the middle just so we can get the damned game released?

The 007 achievement seems to be the hardest one. Sprinter wouldn't be too bad if you turn the difficulty down a smidge.

Rare, Nintendo, EA, and couple more people own the rights to the game.

Unless Rare gets the franchise back, we won't see this, Activision still has the rights to the Bond games.

Makes me sad, I would have bought the shit out of this.

Jim. I beat every fucking level in this game on the hardest difficulty (including the hidden one's) and I unlocked every single cheat in this game (I'm not kidding, all info still on my original cart) but I did this twice when I was younger. I'm sure I could handle those achievements. =)

I think the true question here is would you be able to get all of the achievements (except the ones that pertain to beating the game on each difficulty, and the cheats) on the 007 mode that unlocks after you beat the whole game on 00 agent? If that was the case, you could just turn they enemy's aim down to zero and just cruise through the whole game. Even if you can't do that, I think I could maybe pull the sprinter one off. The real bitch would be the control room, where you have to protect Natalya and she fucking takes forever.

oh, and @ Junta Baill

Bullshit you shot a mine out of the air, you would have to throw it so high to be able to change weapons in time that it wouldn't be worth it in any practical way. Besides, why would you bother shooting it out of the air when you can just detonate it by pressing A and B at the same time?

When I was younger i was proud of unlocking all those cheats in the game, but sometimes it was so frustrating. Like how long it took to die Watching that blood pour down the screen with that obnoxious music really annoyed me. Anyway... I LOVE perfect dark!
