Could Ubisoft ressurrect Shadowbane as a non-MMO? photo

Publisher Ubisoft recently trademarked Shadowbane for "non-MMO gaming purposes," as discovered by superannuation

A free-to-play (and then partially ad-supported) role-playing title, Shadowbane was originally launched back in 2003 for PC and Mac. Servers for the title were eventually shut down this past July, despite pleas from players (via the ever-popular Internet petition) to keep it alive. At its peak, Shadowbane made its way to the top of PC charts, and suffered from over-crowded servers due to its popularity.

Maybe Ubisoft thinks that popularity will spill over into the non-MMO world. An action title based in Shadowbane's world of Aerynth, perhaps? Do we have any Shadowbane fans in the house? What would you like to see?

So if I come into this article, and I say, "Hey, Mr. Chester, I think you meant to write 'despite pleads from players' instead of 'despite please from players', Am I a spelling asswhole?

Only if you don't intentionally misspell at least two words in your response. Hrmm it seems you only have one, how droll.

How about 'pleas' as opposed to 'pleads.'

You really do not need the commas in between "and I say" either.

YES GIVE!

SB deserves to keep going, although I'm scared for what will happen, as the original guys are mostly gone from WP/StrayBullet

LOL GRAMM0R ERRORSZ

I've played Shadowbane once or twice when they went the "free to play route". I wasn't impressed by the game itself, but I can see it as a decent RPG single player experience.

Seriously, I made a typo and accidentally put an "e" on the end of the word "pleas" and it's the end of the world?

Its a blog reporting, people. Might as well sound the alarm, the Grammar Nazis are in full force today. Don't worry Nick, I along side MrSadistic actually read what you wrote and didn't let the WORLD ENDING CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY stop me from knowing what you meant.

1. Thanks Nick for ushering in the Apocalypse, sheesh!

2. I'd be in for it if they keep the same skill/leveling system. I really liked how they handled that and wouldn't mind playing a good RPG with all the class and skill options from the MMO.

Ubisoft Shanghai was recently looking to hire people who have experience with single-player RPGs, so this speculation might not be entirely baseless.

It was a bad MMORPG and it would be a bad single player RPG. Now that crappy Auto Assault MMORPG, that would be fun as a single player game.
