It's been some time, so I don't think a new POP game could hurt, if done right.
I can count on my dick how many games have been sett in egypt before... my dick is named Serious Sam btw
it BETTER NOT be a new Prince of Persia game. It BETTER FUCKING NOT be a new Prince of Persia game.
But hey, this is an early screenshot. There's still plenty of time for them to add in all the colors and magic and whimsy and yeah there's no way that's happening, is there?
Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I'm all up for another Prince of Persia game, so long as it doesn't lose itself trying to mimic God of War or Assassin's Creed, which are the two games that came to mind when I saw the screenshot.
Whats up with those kids doing splits? They going to shit themselves right there then fly away?
I say we do need another POP game, but I'd be happy if it was in the same style (visually) as the last one. If they're just going to make a Assassin's Creed rip off of the series (and, lets face it, Ass Creed always kind of felt like a POP rip off), then they should just give up now.. Or do one better and do a series crossover.
@Darren
Given its Ubisoft, I'm sure theres plenty of re-re's at work.
@ISAY ISAY
I'd just be happy with a ReBoot game that doesn't suck.
So now what? They're leaving behind that 2008 Prince and the Sands of Time Prince and rebooting the whole thing proper again this time? If this is the case, I'd be willing to be it'll coincide with the first year we *don't* have a new Assassin's Creed game and they finally decide to give that series a year break.
Also, I'd rather have a sequel to POP 08
Heh.. This shit.. This, right here.. =D I'd hate to be that guy - but I'll say it - because it pains me to see people missing out on history class and spewing ignorant shit such as "Prince of Africa", upon seeing a supposedly playable black guy in this supposed pre-alpha screen leak.
The Achaemenid empire's population spanned across a shitload of different races and ethnic groups. Many of them were black, blond and blue-eyed, East-Asian looking, on top of all the groups that had dark eyes and hair. Although more uncommon now, this is reflected in current-day Iran's population as well; something that isn't really known to most westerners and even to migrated generations of Iranians living across the globe. Because conceited parents, pride and the master race myth. Most cultures have them.
The white-washing of history is not exactly a new concept in western societies either, but FFS people..
@Dale North: It IS funny, 'cause it's unversed.
I liked PoP (2008) a bit, in the quality that it was.. different. It was the Okami of PoP games, for more than one reason. Also.. it featured actual spoken Farsi, which was funny and a tad exotic. I'm not even sure if the difficulty was an actual problem, seeing how Zelda games handle falling into pits and chasms similarly and it's highly uncommon to actually die in them.
Yeah, man. I'd rather not see the IPs merge concepts more than they already have. They share too much already.
Shit.. Now when I come to think of it, PoP games have always had huge areas, bereft of any other people than the handful of plot driven characters.. Except in the very few set-piece scenarios where a bunch of them pulled the Red Shirt number, just to prove how dire the situation was. The Prince has always been this - more or less - lone hero in a desolate setting.
With crowds, even if the cheap climbing mechanics that play themselves wouldn't be implemented, it'd feel too similar to AC.
