According to Valve, "friendship ends in one day."
Everyone has been freaking out over a comic that was released today, which nicely ties back into the recent Team Fortress 2 update. Those newly-added Announcer sound bites are all starting to make sense now.
The most obvious guess is that a dual Demoman/Soldier update is either going to begin rolling out tomorrow, or we'll just hear more about its planned arrival.
Tons of conspiracy theories are floating around the TF2 forums, many of which believe only one class is getting unlockables as determined by some form of community input. Others seem to think it will be the Engineer who gets new stuff.
What do you guys make of this?

With all due respect to him, considering past experience I wouldn't trust that statement. Anything for hype; and I can guarantee you there will be hype.
You'd think that, but get this:
It's the same artist. Valve pay her to do the artwork now. Crazy, eh?
I really don't care who gave them the idea for a plot, but its hyping this up to the max. I really have to give props to the writer of the update blog. It works so well at hyping me up. I think Blizzard is the only other company that hypes updates.
I'm ready for some Miss Pauling sexy time pics. ;)
Oh. and a TF2 update would be nice.
Of course, this is assuming that there's even an update in the first place. It could all just be a huge joke, leaving me heartbroken and bitter. :\
It's effective because a lot of things did not make sense before, and even if they are just just pulled out, they make it more interesting to see beyond the doubts.
As far as I know, she is an entirely new character. The only characters introduced so far are the mercenaries, the administrator, and Saxton Hale.

But man, can't wait. On one hand, I absolutely love playing as Demo and will finally get the updates I've so desired.
On the other hand, this means relentless 'nade spam during at least the next month or so.

I mean, er, the whole 'friendly competition' thing makes it sound like the two players will be informed of the friendship and then have to either kill each other or compete within a set time to earn points. In this case it would not mean anything special for the Soldier or Demo, which would be a shame, class updates pl0x.
then it wouldn't make a lot of sense to have the dialog that refers to saxton hales for some custome orders would it?
Whew, finally another update. I hope it is the demo and solider update as oppposed to the engineer. I don't play either of those classes and I wouldn't mind the change up. I'd give them a go if that were the case.
Also, I wonder what you can update with those guys? Solider gets a rocket pack? Demoman sobers up?
Hell, I'd watch an entire movie/series dedicated to them.
And has anyone ever figured out what the demoman said in his short? Never got what the extended censorship covered!
Yeah, guess you're right. The game is great, no reason to get worked up because I didn't get a laugh out of one of their game mode promotions.
