Look, we don't need to do this thing here. We don't need to tell you what Muramasa: The Demon Blade is. You've already heard of it and want it. We've been going on and on about it since 2007. It made many of our editors' Most Anticipated of 2009 lists.
Finally, here is the official trailer from Japan. It's...glorious. See how the sunlight twinkles between the trees. See the crazy air juggling. Look at the massive, screen-filling bosses. I don't think 2-D sidescrolling has ever looked this good. I don't think Wii games have ever looked this good.
And the fights at the end of the trailer? Oh My God. Oh My God.
Marvelous Entertainment USA and XSEED Games, you told us 2009 for North America. We haven't forgot that. Don't keep us waiting that much longer!

@Gilder - You don't need to ask ME if I played Grim Grimoire. ;) And as I said in the C-Blog equivalent to this post, I've already plunked down the cash for it.
Holy fucking hell. That fighting on the water was like they were on an animated Ukiyoe painting. That was shit hot. I wish this had a PS2 version also...
I'm intrigued by this as time passes. Has a nice touch to the art and just the chance for an original IP that seems to have an impact much like Viewtiful Joe did. Looking forward to it.
Wow, omg, so beautiful and stylish. I can't wait to get my hands on this game. The trailer was amazing but I'm sure it does no justice to the game compared to how it will look on a 50" television.
Hmm...I'm still skeptical. The demo from last year showed the game had one attack button that you just mash on to defeat everything, and the level design consisted of "Walk forward, beat up enemies, walk forward some more, beat up some more enemies". The again, Strider 2 is just mashing on one button, but I hope its a bit more than that, because the game looks FUCKING INCREDIBLE, and I'm a sucker for action platformers(Hell, I have Strider Hiryu as my avatar), so I was hoping this would be like Strider 3 until Capcom decides to make that. Lets hope for the best.
Yeah, I thought the same thing with the previous trailers. It looked like it was run, slice 'n dice, run. However, this new trailer has made me reconsider it....
That's EXACTLY what I thought about the water scene.
Also, I'm personally glad that this is a Wii exclusive, and I hope it stays that way. The Wii really needs stuff like this. I'm all for everyone enjoying all games, but there are a few too many mini-game compilations on the Wii for it to not get it's own gems.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I'm dying to know what the gameplay is gonna be like though, looks sooo good!
@OutrageousToob: It's a full retail disc.
Looks amazing!
Did anyone play Grim Grimoire?
Hah.
Hahah.
Thank you Vanillaware.
But I'm sure when you're playing it, it all makes sense.
Such a gorgeous game!
This looks better suited to my interests though.
