Convicted child killer gets a free Wii for his troubles? photo

Notorious British child murderer Ian Huntley is reported by The People to have been given a Wii to stop him going through with suicide threats, and warders have been ordered to play with him. According to the report, he was first given a GameCube but complained it was out of date, so the prison upgraded his system. How nice for him.

Huntley is one of Britain's most detested figures after he was found guilty of murdering two schoolgirls, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, in 2003. He has tried to commit suicide three times, and apparently Franklin Prison is so desperate to keep him from succeeding, they're prepared to do whatever he wants to keep him happy.

"Huntley has been asking for a Wii for months," states a prison source. "When he moved to Frankland in February he was given a Nintendo GameCube -- but after only a few weeks he began complaining it was out of date. Management are desperate to stop him going though with threats he's made to kill himself and by giving him a Wii they believe they can take his mind away from harming himself in any way."

The People is a publication that enjoys its celebrity scandal, but with the way Britain's prisons are run, I wouldn't be shocked if this turns out to be true. According to the article, Huntley gets his own TV and CD player while warders are instructed to pamper him. If true, this is pretty disgusting stuff all round, yet sadly ... not shocking at all.

They should be selling tickets to watch this sack kill himself... then use the proceeds towards something good, like dolphins or lolcats or something. Oh, I guess there's always the family of the murdered.

Reminds me of Paul Bernardo, one of Canada's most notorious prisoners and multiple murders. In his cell, he has video games, movies, cable television (hell, I don't even have cable TV), and his cell is also private. Since when does a person convicted of brutally murdering multiple people deserve that shit? He should have to make like Sisyphus for his entire sentence, not play No More Heroes in his cell.

Toss a couple of razor blades into his cell and tell him to either man up or shut up. Also, remind him that it's down the block, not across the street.

This is why Great Britain is losing its greatness, because of PC bullshit like this.

If he's bored, what they hells wrong with a chessboard, some books or some playing cards? All the jails are full and our government has no balls half the time anymore.

I'm sorry to see my taxes being spent on this fucker, because some are too chicken to let him top himself. If he wants a Wii, his family or himself should be paying for it. If that's how it was purchased, then I really don't care what he does with it, despite him still not deserving such perks.

Yanks, at least your government actually believes in cons still doing hard time, where ours just wants to rehab them all, when they should be serving our society in payback somehow.

Why not simply shoot criminals in the head rather than paying 100,000$ or 50,000 pounds a year to keep them in prison?

Ok so they give him what he wants so he doesn't kill himself that is a plain silly. I understand they should keep an eye on him if he is suicidal and I could understand why someone that was disturbed enough to kill 2 young girls might have the metal issues to go through with a suicide or maybe a little remorse for his crimes. But to give in is just bat shit crazy they will have every prisoner out there trying this crap. They should just watch him close, maybe even get him on proper meds if needed but do not give into these demands if he does manage to kill himself really what is the loss here.

Well I give him about a month till hes demading something else.
