Continuity: Part puzzle, part platformer, all awesome photo

This past weekend, when I was off hunting for games to talk about from the 2010 Independent Games Festival Student Showcase, I came out with a few solid candidates. One of which was called Cave, and the others -- well, I'm saving those for slow news days.

Today happens to be one of those dreadfully dull days. This time, I'll be discussing a flash-based game called Continuity. In a nutshell, it's what I imagine you'd get if you were to combine a jigsaw puzzle with a platformer.

Levels are split up into different "cards," which you can shuffle around in order to accomplish your goal: grab the key, and make it to the door. Easy enough. It's starts getting tricky when you realize these cards have to line up perfectly, and that there's way too freaking many of them to handle.

Admittedly, it's a relatively simple concept. But since I had never seen anything like it before, and often times the simplest games end up being the better ones, I thought it was worth sharing. Once you start encountering those complex levels towards the end, you'll hopefully agree.

it seems kind of generic but you can't judge a book by its cover

Sounds interesting. I'm always happy when someone can add a new spin on a popular genre.

Actually that's pretty damn clever. Took me a while to get what was going on and damn does it get hard after a while.
Be nice if it included rotation too, for the sadists among us.

I found this game today, it's really well done. kudos to those that created it, very imaginative. Like you said, simple but very different. They should make a PSN/XBL version, spiffy up the graphics, add some new sound effects with music, and I think the would make a killing

If you can use any number of cards: Doesn't look too bad.
If you have to use every card provided: Oh crap, this should be good.

Call me interested.

I was doing good up until something like level 20, then I hit the figurative brick wall. Sweet game though. I'll go back to it soon before too long, to try and finish up.

An hour of my time just passed playing this game, I needed to stop before a hour turned into four. Great stuff.

is this like "N+" or experiment 13 (an indie games Xblive; best dollar I've spent all month)

Great game. It has that "just one more level" quality to it.

i love the lack of punishment.. you can just sit and watch and figure it out.. try all your options and find the end. No timer, no health, no fall damage no consequences.. i dug it.

This is awesome, thanks for sharing. In a way, it reminds of Echochrome with less headaches.

I played this last night and thoroughly enjoyed -- though it was late at night and by the time I got into the twenties, I was too tired to think. I did, however, get some friends hooked on it as well.

I love indie games.

I played through all but the last 6 levels and it's pretty badass. It gets the D-Sane Seal of Approval
