Yours truly along with Mr. Retroforce attended the Final Fantasy Anniversary "party" in San Francisco the other day. The event was pretty much a giant let down. People were stuck waiting for hours outside of the store and when we were finally let in, they wanted you to get out as fast as possible. The first 100 people were given a greatly designed T-shirt based on the covers of Final Fantasy 1 and the upcoming Final Fantasy II. They were also taking peoples pictures in front of a green screen which I thought they would insert you into some kind of battle scene. NOPE! All they did was insert the anniversary logo and that's it.

Yeah, I'm angry. I'm Mr. Nerdcore damn it! I expect more from multi-million dollar companies than what we ended up getting. But hey, I at least will have the satisfaction of giving three lucky Dtoiders some prizes now!

First Place:
You'll get a copy of Final Fantasy for the PSP as well as the really nicely designed T-shirt.

Second Place:
A copy of Final Fantasy 1 for the PSP.

Third Place:
The T-shirt.

So what the hell do you have to do? Quite simple really. You're going to have to write a story based on the Final Fantasy universe (thank Jim Sterling for the idea). It can be demented, disturbing, a love story, humorous, anything so long as it's really good and original. The contest is open to anyone so go nuts.

You have until July 5th to write your story.

Rules:

- Nothing extremely sexual!
- You must post your essay as a Community Blog entry and have the title of the post start with "FF Contest:"
- It should be no less than three paragraphs.
- Use at least one image to support your story

How long do we have to do this? I'm really not feeling like writing a story right now, but I'll do it if I have to.

How extreme is extremely sexual?

Yaoi themes?
Ultros' Tentacles?
Terra on my firma?
Cloud's Nine? (inches?)
Auron's reason for having an arm in a sling? (Some habits are hard to quit)

Or should I just blatantly steal something, use Find and Replace and post that?

Which would win me the 3rd place shirt?

Is the shirt the typical extra-large GameStop promo garbage? They've always been way too big for me.

(I need smaller shirts to show off my pecs.)

Maximum Length?
Could you just use googled image or does it need to be photshopped or drawn for context?

D00d, no maximum length should be set :(. That would be ghey considering I know mines going to be more then 10 pages (possibly a lot more >.>).

Haha, my original idea for this was FAR more in line with what the very first comment suggest, rather than what it was toned down to. :)

And seriously, being on staff makes me jealous sometimes. What delightful fucking swag.

Both shirts are large, very nicely made. There is no maximum length and yes, you can have multiple entries just like the photoshop contests.

Okay just to tell you guys I really dont know alot about Final Fantasy so heres my attempt.

Final Fantasy: Destructoid Edition

The story begins with two friends CTZ and Dyson who are pumped up for the Final Fantasy Party since they have followed the series and love it dearly. They both arrive at the party to be extremely disappointed. They leave the party with some swag, deciding that they are going to put it up on Destructoid for their loyal fans. But just before they can finish their thoughts they come across two crystals. They each grab one and bring it back to destructoid head quarters just for the hell of it.
Meanwhile Neiro and Ron are in a bar drunk off their asses each taking turns to wear the destructoid helmet. We’ll after Ron hits on a few gay guys Neiro drags him outta there before he ends up in a gay porno. While walking down the urban streets Ron runs into the street histarically causing cars to swerve out of the way. Neiro goes and rescues his ass again. But while they were walking off the road they realize two crystals stuck in the drain pipe. They snag umm well pretty much cause I guess they must have looked cool while they were hammered. They make their way back to the Destructoid head quarters.
All of them wake up the next morning. CTZ and Dyson show Ron and Niero the crystals they found when both Ron and Neiro also pull out identical crystals. They realize that they were chosen to save the world from a evil force. Then they realized the evil force they must defeat the crazy Nintendo fanboys and their pokemons. They all look at each other and say mann I hate those fucking pokemans!! What will happen to these four destructoid warriors chosen to fight the evil fanboys, will they succeed or will the pokemans kill them all?

The image isnt that great cause I was just exausted from writing the story. oh well I hope I atleast win the shirt = ]
