Contest: MAG beta extended, win your way in (Update) photo

First thing's first -- Zipper Interactive has announced that its beta program for the massive online PlayStation 3 exclusive shooter MAG has been extended. It was originally scheduled to end on November 23, but that's so last week.

"MAG Beta 4 program" will continue this week, and the next phase -- "MAG Beta 4.5" -- will re-launch on November 24 with another small download. What that means exactly is unclear, but if you've already pre-ordered MAG with GameStop, you should have received a beta key that will work throughout the beta. (You should still be able to pre-order online and get your working code; Zipper says in-store keys will "no longer support" the beta.")

Want a key? Well, we have 100 keys to give away today. To win, simply comment and tell us which of the game's private military factions you'll join when you sign up and why. You can get more info on the factions from our earlier preview of the game.

We'll choose our 100 favorite answers (starting at around 5:00pm Eastern), and message you your key using Destructoid's new private messaging system (which is also in beta). Good luck!

I know Dexter wrote about it, but what do people think: is it worth pre-ordering?

I heard it was bland shit, and the only thing good is the max player cap, but considering I can't get enough of World at War PC's 64 player cap, I think I'd like that.

I was blown away at how the game looks and plays, and it's not even the complete product. I don't know much on the game since I didn't get to play much of it so I wouldn't be able to explain in detail since I haven't gotten much info on it, but from what I saw from it, I'd be interested in Raven.

I'd probably choose the Raven faction one hundred percent of the time. My reasoning? I loved the Raven in Sleeping Beauty, the Baltimore Ravens are my favorite NFL team, I know a lot about Ravens in real life (they're not altruistic!), and I like Edgar Allen Poe (and that Simpsons Treehouse episode with Bart as the raven).

SVER. It reminds me a bit on S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and I've always just loved the groups that have "shoddily put together" equipment that ends up working well (Fallout 3's created weapons, etc.).

Raven because i love the whole 'militaristic future' style. They look like roboninjas and that means they are 2x the win :D

I'm going to go with SVER because I've constructed my PS3 entirely out of a twigs and chewed bubblegum. Honestly it meshes pretty well with the overall decor of my apartment, as the other guys living under the freeway would probably look at me weird if I had a shiny George Foreman Grill-looking shiny thing. So, in conclusion, SVER.

Most definitely would go with Raven. Normally I'm the type to go with more traditional weaponry, but in this sort of lots-of-players multiplayer, having all sorts of futuristic tech seems like it would be a major advantage. Plus, from what I've seen, they just look way cooler than the other two factions.

Well, there are a number of reasons that I would choose the RAVEN faction. Allow me to list them for you:

1) They do look pretty badass. Not to mention they originate from AUSTRIA! That's where Ahnold is from and he was the damn TERMINATOR. I could probably stop here cause this reason is so damn awesome, but I shall continue on.

2) Their called "RAVEN" and that's pretty awesome too. I mean, seriously, Edgar Allen Poe wrote about one once and if I remember correctly it was pretty damn scary and horrifying. These Ravens have guns and tanks and missiles and stuff. These Ravens can rap upon your chamber door.....with rocket launchers.

3) KAW!

4) They give a whole new meaning to "That's So Raven".

Well, for me it's RAVEN or bust and when you hear my harrowing bird call across the battlefield you'll wish you had joined me.

Totally joining Raven. Why? With their uniforms made of carbon fiber, molded plastics, and metals, I'll finally be able to live out my dream of playing a FPS as a car from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Hopefully, their loadouts and weapons match the high-tech description because I'm a sucker for modern/futuristic weaponry.

Raven: Their high tech aesthetic and weaponry will take me one step closer to feeling like Solid Snake in a sneaking suit. The joy of being in the company of the next generation of soldier will propel me into the glorious fight that me and my brethren will endure.
Dying is only a secondary concern, Raven need these resources if we are to instill a new world order where we advance technology exponentially to increase the joys of life. Disease and sickness shall be quelled as we use our deep pools of knowledge to craft advanced medical systems and remedies.

Fighting for Raven gives me hope that some day we can achieve our next stage of evolution and eventually end the mechanisms of war.
I will happily die for my ideology, long live the Raven.

There is no beating Raven, all you can do is make them angry.

I want to play as Raven so I can run around and say "That's So Raven!" over and over again. Until people despise the faction. But seriously, they look the most bad-ass and in the old pre-gamestop beta their levels were always the most fun to defend.

SVER: Aggressive, Best guns, Bad bases, Average armor, Bad vehicles

I will go with SVER since it has the best of guns and its the most aggressive out of the other factions despite its bad bases/vehicles and average armor.

This game attracts me because of the high amount of players can play all together at once online. Chaotic, fast paced or tactical � which ever mood I�m in, MAG delivers. I get the impression it incorporates every notable aspect of shooters into one gift of a game. Personally I can�t wait. I�d love to play the Beta, I don�t get into any of them but I�ll keep trying.

Honestly, I'm joining which ever faction the majority of Dtoiders choose. I may be a sheep but at least I'll be a sheep playing with friends. This games requires too much teamwork for me to just go it alone. Plus in the previous beta phase I usually ended up choosing the opposite faction to what the frequent MAG players chose, which meant I couldn't join anyone's matches. So I guess I'll probably end up being Raven then haha.I doubt we will be SVER because as Naim Master pointed out to me, they actually use a garbage can for their scope. We can't trust the reliability of their weapons. Valor is a little bland looking. Raven looks like a PMC that everyone will naturally want to hate on the battlefield which is great because we'll be dominating anyways and really make the opposition loathe us. But in the end, I don't care which faction I'm in as long as there is enough Dtoiders to roll a squad of 8.

Valor is the team for me. I'd think they'd be more of the party type, and actually enjoy cappin' some fools while listening to Ice T. Also, they're the underdogs, which automatically makes them awesome.

I would have to say that i'd go with Valor, the grizzled combat veterans.Then i could totally imagine myself as a badass combat vet like Solid Snake,Rambo or Arnold in commando i mean he threw a saw blade and SLICED PART OF A GUYS HEAD OFF...how badass is that.Come to think of it maybe valor will have a throwing blade..yes..throwing circular saw blade of death!!

I would go with Raven. I would rather spend my time in a PMC that is well funded and can get me the gear that I need than having to scavenge my supplies. Ever since history has existed, we find example after example of technology defeating brute force. I'm not only talking war fighting here either. From the invention of the wheel to the PC, tech has made life easier and given distinct advantages to the possesor.
