Someone should have done this last week - hopefully this spawns one last round of whining and arrogance and then we can all move on.
Curmudgeon Gamer actually took the time to figure out how all of the past, present, and future gaming consoles compared
when inflation was applied.
It surprised me that, relatively speaking, PS2 was actually cheaper than Playstation, however I still think PS2 sold for 500 bucks half the time since that's what all my friends had to pay for it on ebay to get it that first week it came out. Bastards. Not surprising though, is that Xbox 360's relative prices are in the same ballpark as consoles that have come out in the last decade... and PS3 is borderline not. (PS - don't forget alot of people are still calling
the PS3 a POS).
Yes - I'm sure the PS3 will kick ass - and yes - they have helped their case slightly by
clarifying on specs. Just because it is the most relatively expensive system in the last 20 years doesn't mean it will suck, but it does mean that it is THE MOST EXPENSIVE SYSTEM IN 20 YEARS!
Does everyone realize how hard it will be to program for the PS3?!
PS2 had the same problem when it launched - no one wanted to make games for it. Perhaps that's why there was actually more games for the PS2 than any other system - most of them sucked. So why is PS3 making things even harder for game makers, but promising more, and expecting every household to have 1080p big screens and expects everyone to want Bluray when we really have no idea what to expect?! I just want to play video games! I'm in college doing the starving artist thing like most gamers my age. And yea, my parents are rich so i'll alway be able to pull the mommy and daddy card. But I won't - there's no way I could ask my parents to buy me a 600 dollar console. Don't forget a few games and extras
will cost you close to 1000 total bucks!
Game companies have finally tapped into PS2's power and now the PS3 is being shoved down their throats and all the same problems are starting over again. "That's just how it is in the world of gaming." Fine. But lay off the Wii, because that's not what they're doing and it was pretty much unanimous - Wii stole the show at E3. And it's only going to be 250 bucks. And I never really heard any E3 news far from 'PS3 and 360 stuff looks about the same.' And don't forget there's only gonna be a few million at most of those POS3's being shipped for launch. So go ahead and explain to me one more time why the Xbox 3-Shitty isn't anything compared to what the PS3 will be. You'll need alot more than "alot of the 360's broke." And sure, I might not have the HD hookup but I've still been gaming on a level beyond you for the past few months, and when the POS3 launches I doubt you'll be far ahead of me.
There, I'm done bitching until November. Everyone get all of your remaining frustrations out so we can civilly bash on other aspects of the gaming world until November.
