Confusion alert! New Prince of Persia game to be based on movie based on game photo

If making a movie based on Prince of Persia: Sands of Time wasn’t already enough to get fans of the awesome videogame series nervous, now comes news of another Prince of Persia game being made by Ubisoft that is based on said upcoming movie version.

So, let me get this straight: We have the original Prince of Persia trilogy already released and a new game -- said to be the first of a new trilogy -- coming out later this year. And the Jerry Bruckheimer movie -- announced about a few weeks ago -- is based on the original Sands of Time and is starting production this summer. Now, this new videogame will be based on the movie that was based on the original game. So is it, then, a remake of Sands of Time starring a prince with the likeness of Jake Gyllenhaal? I am so confused! Wouldn’t a game based on a movie based on a game just be the game?

Now that my brain hurts I will leave it to you. Is there any possibility that this could turn out well? Any possibility at all?

Believe it or not I've never played a Prince of Persia since the original on the SNES way back in the day. I can still see how stupid of a move this is. Ubisoft, why not just save yourself a lot of work and port the real Sands of Time to 360/ps3?

Whenever I hear news that sounds terrible but will most likely bring Ubisoft a great deal of money a little optimistic part of my brain thinks that the money they make from that will be going toward the Beyond Good & Evil franchise.

Maybe unraveling this connection should be a puzzle in the next Professor Layton game, then we can have a game puzzle based on a game based on a movie based on a game.

What's up with this "making games into movies" trend? Hitman was bad enough, don't make us suffer through yet another game to movie rendition. I guess the game companies are just trying to return the favor to the movie industry. I mean, they give us shitty games based on movies all the time. The least the gaming industry could do is give the movie companies few shitty movies based on games.

.............................................................

Sorry, blacked out there for a second.

Seriously though, we should be happy, because I guarantee you there was a conversation at Ubisoft that went something like this:

-Alright, so it's a go on the adaptation of the adaptation of Sands of Time.

-OK good...but...you know, if we do this, it's going to take something big to prevent the gaming community from rising up as a single entity and slaying us.

Yeah, you're right. OK, call Michel Ancel and greenlight Beyond Good & Evil 2.

we all know movies based on games suck ass, and that video-games based on movies suck even more, so this will be like crap to the 3rd-power almost :-)

I love my movies and I love my games... I wish the two would stay as separate forms of entertainment.

This is a path of gaming development that just should not be taken.

Games rule and movies drool.

I know what I want from Ubi-Soft and seeing al the give-us-your-monies going on, I might just get it.

What I want is the Sands on Time Trilogy for the 360. They can up the graphix on SoT, add whatever (or not) to WW and TT. I just want to play it again. WW and TT aren't backwards-compatible on the 360, and I don't have my origional xbox anymore. I would own the acheivement for the true ending in WW.

If they make this, they can have my money.
