If making a movie based on Prince of Persia: Sands of Time wasn’t already enough to get fans of the awesome videogame series nervous, now comes news of another Prince of Persia game being made by Ubisoft that is based on said upcoming movie version.
So, let me get this straight: We have the original Prince of Persia trilogy already released and a new game -- said to be the first of a new trilogy -- coming out later this year. And the Jerry Bruckheimer movie -- announced about a few weeks ago -- is based on the original Sands of Time and is starting production this summer. Now, this new videogame will be based on the movie that was based on the original game. So is it, then, a remake of Sands of Time starring a prince with the likeness of Jake Gyllenhaal? I am so confused! Wouldn’t a game based on a movie based on a game just be the game?
Now that my brain hurts I will leave it to you. Is there any possibility that this could turn out well? Any possibility at all?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
WHY UBISOFT WHY?
Maybe unraveling this connection should be a puzzle in the next Professor Layton game, then we can have a game puzzle based on a game based on a movie based on a game.
Of course! Ha ha. How could I forget that precious jewel?! :) :)
KA CHING!

Sorry, blacked out there for a second.
Seriously though, we should be happy, because I guarantee you there was a conversation at Ubisoft that went something like this:
-Alright, so it's a go on the adaptation of the adaptation of Sands of Time.
-OK good...but...you know, if we do this, it's going to take something big to prevent the gaming community from rising up as a single entity and slaying us.
Yeah, you're right. OK, call Michel Ancel and greenlight Beyond Good & Evil 2.
I have absolutely nothing to add to this.
No, really... What? I...
Huh. Okay.
we all know movies based on games suck ass, and that video-games based on movies suck even more, so this will be like crap to the 3rd-power almost :-)
That I'd like to see... Well, maybe not.
This is a path of gaming development that just should not be taken.
I know what I want from Ubi-Soft and seeing al the give-us-your-monies going on, I might just get it.
What I want is the Sands on Time Trilogy for the 360. They can up the graphix on SoT, add whatever (or not) to WW and TT. I just want to play it again. WW and TT aren't backwards-compatible on the 360, and I don't have my origional xbox anymore. I would own the acheivement for the true ending in WW.
If they make this, they can have my money.
