Our brains are now jammed with thoughts of big October games like Uncharted 2 or Borderlands. And it doesn’t look like November will be easier on ye’ old big pile of pink mush with Left 4 Dead 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sitting in disc trays, demanding to be spun in circles. Early December offers a bit of a respite, as we’ll turn our attention to a lone title -- Pandemic Studios’ The Saboteur, an open-world action title about racing, Nazis, and killing said Nazis.
The fascinating monochromatic direction and focus on character and narrative are intriguing to say the least, even though the above video -- just released this morning -- dismisses the latter points with too many bangs, blood, and bombers.
In addition to the video, publisher EA also dropped a few images of the game in action. A few of them have been around the block more than once, but that’s cool -- we like our stuff to be battle-tested.
The game hits December 8th in the US, and apparently December 4th in the UK.
Since the first info on this game was released, I wanted it to be awesome. It still looks as though that is possible, but I have read a few bad impressions of it. It would be a shame for an original WWII concept to fail to deliver.
Meh Guess it was too much to think this would be a pure stelther. Also the saboteur is American? Maybe I missed the memo but I was looking forward to playing as a member of the French resistance.
Doesn't impress me too much. Looks like Assassin's Creed with guns. And I hate making other game + guns statements (Like how FO3 was accused of being Oblivion with guns) But seriously, it really looks like it. I wouldn't be surprised if they were using the Assassin's Creed engine.
And it's from Pandemic Studios, creators of nothing I've ever liked, and a few games that I absolutely hate. Actually, Mercenaries 2 probably ranks 3 of my top 10 worst gaming experiences of all time.
I'm increasingly intrigued but markedly hesitant. The concept could go far, but I'm afraid the execution may fall flat. The marketing for this game hasn't been fantastic, and I'm not sure if that's because they don't think it's good enough to market, or they think it's good enough without all the hullabaloo. I'll wait on some early reviews, or at least gameplay previews, to make my decision.

But seriously The Saboteur looks fantastic and since a slot opened up in my purchasing schedule I think I'll get it.
Well I still think this looks fantastic, it was about time for a more fresh concept on a topic that was used before.
