Back in March 06, Famitsu noted that "A Game creator who recently went solo is developing a [Wii] action game featuring an evil-spirit that looks like a pierrot clown flying through the air.”, which doesn't exactly leave a heck of a lot suspects. The NiGHTS appears to have been further confirmed by SPOnG, who noted this:
Speaking to representatives close to the project, we were told in no uncertain terms that a new NiGHTS game is about to be uncovered. NiGHTS will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Wii platform.
“Yes, there is a new NiGHTS coming, and coming quite soon actually,” we were told today by a representative close to the project who agreed to speak with us under terms of strict anonymity. “It's a full game too, not a rehash of old NiGHTS for Virtual Console as some have said it might be lately. It's a whole new game.”
Many would agree that NiGHTS was a fantastic game that defined the Saturn, and many more will say they'd seen it around but never played it because they never had access to a console it ran on. We wouldn't be surprised if we see the NiGHTS Into Dreams pop up on the Virtual Console, too. I know one guy who's jumping up and down right now -- Racketboy called Nights the #1 game franchise that needs a sequel.
Interestingly enough, SEGA isn't developing the game. Sonic's not looking so hot lately, so I'm somewhat uncomfortably happy to hear that.

Exactly. SPOnG is notorious for starting bullshit rumors to get hits. I don't even know why they're still taken seriously by anyone. I'll wait until a real site confirms it as true before I get my hopes up.

A nights game gives me some more reassurance on my purchase of the wii. I just hope they dont ruin it...
But now over 10 years later, I don't care. Why? Because I'm 10 years older now!

I still play NiGHTS to this day. A true gem of a game. :D
Anyway, fantastic news! I'm interested to see how it'll play, and whether or not you need just a Wiimote, or a Nunchuck, too.:D
As far as I know, Spong is the first site that claimed they had "sources" who were "confirming" Nights on the Wii.
We don't have to wait much longer for official word of what exactly that star cluster form ONM represents. I don't trust Spong at all, and they're notorious for just making shit up. This time, I sense they're taking a risk on Nights being officially announced. If it is, then they look like gold. If its not, then they'll once again look like frauds.
I won't be surprised though if it does happen. NiGHTS plus the Wiimote go hand in hand to me.
