Confirmed: Need for Speed: Nitro has a yellow bus photo

Wii-exclusive Need for Speed: Nitro is happening and coming in November courtesy of developer EA Montreal, the same studio behind Army of Two: the 40th Day, and Slightly Mad Studios. As with most NFS titles, Nitro is a racing game. But there’s one fat caveat: it’s intended for the mystical “casual” audience. You know, the group of grandmothers who, apparently, decide to buy car videogames on a whim while doing a late night Wal-Mart yarn run.

Assuming the casual label sticks, it’s probably a racing game that doesn’t focus on the racing all that much, or at least, the mechanics won’t be too hard to wrap the brain around.

Some new screens for the title surfaced this afternoon. While Nitro may not be Shift, it will certainly have a car-editing component. Look at that yellow bus, guys! That dude who made that is so crazy. What a card.

I think this game is looking pretty good. Hopefully it won't try to connect to PSN.

The game is meant to appeal to Mario Kart and arcade-racing fans as opposed to being an implied waggle-fest mini-game collection.

Wow it's like they they are going out of their way to make it as lame as possible.

If they really are chasing the Wii's casual gamers they should put a fucking prius in there with optional bumper stickers about soccer mom's kids.

Jeez.

FFs!

Can anyone tell me what the good Need For Speed game is supposed to be!?

Y'know; the one that convinced some suit in EA that they MUST release at least one of these a year regardless of quality.

Uh...are we talking about the same thing? NFS: Nitro? The game that runs at 60fps, has Nitro boosts, power turns, plays like the earlier Burnouts and when you are racing in first place, the entire track gets tagged and colored with your car's motifs?

I just watched the trailer for this. It looks alright. Like a Burnout for kids. Simple, fun. But not as lame as the screens above suggest.
