The sequel to the Xbox 360's most underrated launch title, Condemned: Criminal Origins, will be upon is in a little more than a month. There hasn't been a whole lot of media for the game up to this point, but GameSpot recently got a trailer for Condemned 2: Bloodshot that you'll want to watch.
For those of you who played Condemned, the first thing you'll notice is how incredibly different the game's protagonist Ethan Thomas looks and speaks. Other than that, there doesn't appear to be too many departures from the original game. The melee combat, crime scene investigations, and angry hobos we've come to love are in no short supply.
While Condemned wasn't necessarily a scary game, the ambient sound combined with the fact that random mutant-like freaks could jump out at you from the most inconvenient hiding places provided for a truly awesome atmosphere.
Here's hoping that Bloodshot will follow in its predecessor's footsteps in that regard. Also, while I'm definitely not complaining, what's with the exploding babies?
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

It seems to me they're taking the insanity route with this one. He's drinking because he went insane by what he saw. I bet the whole thing is in his head and the game ends with him in an insane asylum.
I didn't see any babies popping! I'll have to watch it again.
As for the game, it looks fun, but the "grizzled, seen too much, might be insane, scratchy voiced anti-hero" thing is way too early 90's for me.
Too early 90's, too ManHunt 1 and 2, too The Darkness, too Indigo Prophecy, too Dark Sector, too "generic American video game targeted towards teenage males" in general.
Well I'll certainly be getting this, I loved the first Condemned and I'm not really big on 'scary' games... I am really beginning to really like the work Monolith does though.
Yeah the new direction for Ethan Thomas is kind of generic, but I'll cope as long as I get to whack a hobo over the head with a lead pipe... and those mannequins come back.
Oh man, I had heard about the mannequins before I got the game, so on that level I was careful to beat the shit out of everything before it attacked me.
I actually made a side-scroller in some amateur program which had a health pack that was guarded by a gunslinging mushroom. Upon defeating the fungi and approaching the health pack, it turned into an infant that exploded immediately, killing you.
The point is, I did exploding babies way before them.
What's with "badass"? Who wants "badass"? Monolith, please tell me why you're trying to turn your games into B-movie adaptations, and then kindly hand your protagonist a Schick Quattro and stand back as we actually sympathize for once.
i bought the first condemmed used for 20$ a few months ago and loved it, the mannequins scared the shit out of me. and the last level swallowed me up at 3 in the morning. i though i was really there
The original Condemned was the second game I bought for my 360 (after Oblivion) and LOVED it. It was one of the few games that actually freaked me the hell out. Haven't been to a high school or swimming pool since.
People that have actually finished the first one will know that the new Ethan fits in perfectly with how it ended.
Certain events at the end of the first one are obviously taking their toll, and hopefully we can see these effects getting worse and worse as it goes on.
Stop complaining that he is gruff and violent, its actually part of the story. If you have a problem with it, there are plenty of androgynous emo japanese protagonists or cutesy mascots in games that you might prefer to play.
The original rocked and I am looking forward to this one.. It was a creepy ass game to play alone at night and I hope this one has the same feeling, if not more. Looks awesome
He's taking scruffy white people pills at the start. That's how they explain him transforming into a totally different person.
And this game looks like it will be full of exploding babies and killing demons. I only really liked the few detective work bits from the first game, especially the house at the end. I'm sure they've removed any of that now.
It kind of looks like you might lose some of the vunerablity of the first title..right till the end you were some guy who was in a screwed up situation. Now you're a screwed up guy..in the same situation..probably won't be as awesome storywise..though I wonder if they'll work in any of the supposed power he's meant to have that's alluded to in the first title.

The first condemned scared the crap out of me so I'll probably get this one.
Whatever, I never played the 1st Condemned anyways.

Does anyone else think the character models looked a bit sub-par?

And anyone else think that the guys attacking Ethan on top of the roof look like the Prototype guy?

Exploding baby? Coathangers unite!
This new voice is just a stereotypical gravelly-voiced hardass cop.
If the gameplay and narrative stay intact, then the game will be solid enough. But that new voice... ugh, it's distracting.
Oh, and I agree with Jonathan. Looks like Indigo Prophecy.

I suggest picking up a PS3 or Wii.
Care to debate me on that point?
