Quantcast

Blogging programmer, Ashish Derhgawen, has presented us a slice of our most horrific future, where Pong playing super robots will enslave the world with paddles forged from the very reasoning of sin. Well, not really, but what he has done is set up two computers to play a Pong clone against one another, using a webcam to imbue one of the machines with cycloptic powers.

Inspired by a computer that can play on a PSP while using a webcam to view the on-screen shenanigans, Ashish hooked up two machines, as per the video above, then set them upon each other in gladiatorial combat, that each warrior may compete for valor and their master's favor. That, or they'll just play for hours and hours with no winner ever becoming clear. Stupid boring computers. Neat little video, though.

The computer sees and plays against...a computer. Heh, it's like an oxymoron or something.

Sooo...when will my computer....I don't know predict the apocalypse or find me some cool Pirat Monkeys™ on eBay?

we're doomed.

first pong, then soccer, then global thermonuclear war, and before you know it we're all stuck in the matrix, under the illusion of buying brand name merchandise at low, low prices.

For some reason, this reminds me of the screen onboard the SCS Eureka in Space Quest 5 that's constantly playing Pong as well and is said to be running some "important simulation".

You know what would be a boon to society? a pair of computer-controlled eyeglasses that can look at a screenshot and tell you instantly if the gameplay sucks.

They would be issued by law to all casual gamers.
