Company of Heroes follow-up confirmed; Summa does happy dance photo

Fact: I love PC RTS games.

Fact: I love Company of Heroes and what it tried to do with changing the way RTS games are handled.

Fact: THQ loves me so much they decided to keep on keepin' on with the series and I couldn't be happier.

Here are the down and dirty details of what we know so far about Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts via Eurogamer:

This time around you'll be playing as either the British 2nd army during the liberation of Caen in France, or taking on the role of the German Panzer Elite as you try to repel Operation Market Garden - the largest airborne invasion in history.

So, there will be two new armies to toy with, each with full length campaigns. Fresh new multiplayer modes, mission persistence, improved vehicle and soldier AI, enhanced physics and a dynamic weather system.

Oh joy. My only issue is, there's going to be so much gaming goodness when this comes out later this year, that I may not have the time needed to fully commit. Damn you father time! Hurry, someone invent a time machine I can use so I can play all these great games.

RTS' and War games will always be in the market as long as there is a market for them.

And Summa continues to happy dance.

(yawn)

Stale news.

Summa dances for a just cause. This game was great. Only rts I really enjoyed because of the individual effort you put into each soldier and the ability to take control of them individually.

They really changed things up with CoH and I loved it. This announcement gave me a little chubby.

Company of Heroes really didn't do anything that Relic didn't already do with the Warhammer 40k series (Dawn of War). That was the game that got me back into RTSs and Company of Heroes merely expands on that same concept.

We do not require more vespene gas.

That's why I love CoH. Combat over resource management is so lovely.

It was pretty good, except you always have to constantly tell the little bastards commands. Plus i like resource management in my games(it sort of what encompasses the RTS genre). But yes good news none the less. Guess this is another game i will be firing up the ol' gaming pc for.

C&C3 is the perfect normal RTS. I can't stop playing it. It's not too much resource management, but it's still there and you get into combat fast.

^ C&C3 is the best thing that has happened to RTS since Starcraft, yet COH is BEAUTIFUL and a great game all by itself. Everytime I load up COH I feel like im watching and controlling "Band of Brothers"

coh is the perfect balance between fast paced C&C and slow paced AoE. Its perfect for me. :)

I really enjoyed CoH because it's the first RTS I've played that seemed to have any real strategy beyond "Build stuff really fast and get lots of your strongest unit."
The only problem with CoH was the micromanagement. Hopefully they'll make the soldiers a little smarter in the sequel.

I really hated CoH 1 because it WASN'T PLAYABLE.
Do any of the game's amazing features really matter when it has Doom 3 graphics in a wide landscape? If you can't run it, the game gets a rating of 0.
