Earlier in the week, Disney revealed two teaser posters for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time film, set for a May 2010 release.

We criticized it, not because of what you'd expect. Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan looks pretty good, the costume and pose reminiscent of the second game in the trilogy, The Warrior Within. And Gemma Arterton (as Tamina... wait, who?) is a pretty woman, and we're not going to argue that.

But the font. Oh dear, the font. The poster generated some discussion, and provided us with our Comment of the Week.

Why it won:

Disney should have already made a job offer to Solid Squirrel. This mock-up poster sums up our thoughts exactly; even the fine print is hilarious. (Squint real hard).

i'm laughing at disney's graphic design / marketing department right now. what a fuck up. helvetica for prince of persia? everything about that poster is wrong wrong wrong. san serif, color choice, tacky tight kerning, type contrast (or lack there of) between helvetica bold and helvetica extended bold (oh what a crazy jump that is!). gross. squirrel, you were right to make fun of it, good job.

Thanks so very much guys and gals! I feel like the belle of the ball of a Monster Truck Rally. It was literally the last thing I was reading before bed, and it just hit me to create it. Hour or so later, bam, there it was, and so was the sun coming up.

This makes up for me not winning a KoF12 copy now. I likely annoyed the hell out of my Twitter followers for that string of incessant esoteric puns I made during the contest.
