Commander: Site with cryptic video gets an equally cryptic picture photo
     wii

Last weekend, we spotted a creepy viral video for what IGN believes to be a Wii-exclusive title due out in 2009. I had my old German professor attempt to translate the entirety of the piece, but she wasn’t able to catch anything audible (other than the screaming) in the closing seconds. The Web site hosting the video now has a cryptic image (above) that doesn't need language translation -- only artistic.

What the hell does the picture convey? I haven’t the slightest clue, and I’m not sure Frau Wuthrich could drop me any hints. It features blocks, the color grey, and quite a few reticules.

The image’s file name reads “J_BN_POMZ_B_NBO.” The lovely Professor Pew and I were able to crack the wicked hard shifted alphabet code (-1) in a matter of seconds. Once decoded it reads, “I AM ONLY A MAN.”

I suppose that rules out Starcraft Ghost. PS EPFT JU?

::sigh:: arright, so the image with the dot on www.commandervideo.com is titled "BTB.jpg" what's that mean?

also, if you check last week's story, Commandervideo now has a Destructoid account by which to further viralize.

is this really why I'm up at 2:30 in the morning?

Alright. After spending way too much time on this, I've got a few things.

The IGN thread notes that there's a wii exclusive coming called Cursed Mountain , that seems to fit the vibe of this viral stuff.

On the wishful thinking list, perhaps the email has different meaning when it says there's a frame from the game in the video.

Maybe they mean Orbital Frame. Like Zone of the Enders. The 2D pic vaguely reminds me of the smooth canyons you had to fight through in the first game. Also, some of the IGN poster likened the white grid to Konami's Gradius III. Its a stupid loose association. However, if Kojima's working on a game, he's going to want to hype it, and this seems just crazy enough to have his stank on it.

I hate viral marketing . . .

because, see, if this ends up being a sequence of progressively "sharper" images, wherein the blocks become more detailed sets of blocks, and eventually turn into an image, that could totally be a screen from Z.O.E, with Jehuty in the foreground . . .

Also, "ASA" - sounds kinda like ADA, from Zone of the Enders.

Also, "I am only a man" makes me think that the "_" in the file name could be blanks. "AUMAN" could work. I'm only AUMAN, like a sinister reference to project Aumon from ZOE2

But I KNOW this can't really be about ZotE . . .

Unles its a Wii-make. Like Twin Snakes was an exclusive . . .

Dude, fuck that. As supportive as I am in actually having a good Wii game to play, I'd much prefer ZOE 3 on my PS3. That'd be amazing.

Also, man... Tubatic, you suck for getting me thinking of ZOE. There's no way this is related to ZOE.

ASA? Maybe it's "Advertising Standards Authority: The Video Game"

@Cognito

Yeah, I know, my bad. I'm probably gonna play some of ZOE2 today.

ZOE on PS3 and the next Team Ico game will probably make me a PS3 owner.

The blocks definitely seem like a landscape to me like various elevations. But why is the one in the front floating then?

There are also a cluster of white dots around the top center of the image. They look too large to be film grain. A constellation maybe?
