Command & Conquer 4 screens love them some neon colors photo

Similar to the shift from Dawn of War to its successor, so too will Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight have less of an emphasis on all-out base building. Not that there isn't a time and a place for that style of play, but sometimes you just want to get into the action sooner.

This is one of the main reasons why I'm interested in C&C4. Well, that, and this latest batch of screenshots for the game have grabbed my attention with their captivating yet horrifically bright colors.

Taken from a location known as "Junktown," these in-game shots show the big bad Crawlers, which are sort of like mobile bases that you will use to pump out armies. At this point, the C&C universe is beyond lost on me, but so long as the quality is there, I'll come to play.

I cannot wait, I enjoyed the hell outta DoW2. This game, it just another step towards a diff type of rts that will eventually become its own genre. Bring on the game, let me see how it plays!

Not to offend but I believe considering how World in Conflict did with no base building that it could very well be a boon for RTS multiplayer. With no base building you could have drop in and drop out. Plus it gives a nice kick to RTS game design which with the exception of Relic's RTS games have stagnated in the gameplay department.

Now granted I'm not saying this is by default going to be a good game but we need more multiplayer RTS games like Ground Control and Men of War.

I enjoy the economics and technological aspects of RTS games as well. While I have enjoyed the direction games like WiC have taken, it just feels like its missing something in my opinion. Though I suppose as long as Starcraft and Warcraft are popular we don't have to worry too much about base building disappearing anytime soon.

my only question is will it be like DoW2 where it will have Games for Windows so i can get on live at the comfort and laziness of my computer... other than that it looks awesome and i like the no base building style too because turret wh*res always block entrances to their base and i cant get my tank through the first wave of turrets before it shoots it down and it blows up in a fiery explosion

Base building was one of the biggest part of the C&C games. If you were playing without super-powers and knew how to base build, you could create an almost indestructible base and just ride it out.
EA is seriously raping this series. It's gone from a decent shift (C&C 3) to a wtf moment (RA3) and now this...
I won't be buying it. RIP Westwood Studios.

I have to admit, that when Westwood died, then the series itself didn't have a chance.
