Nice to see three games in this collection are up for free, does that mean The First Decade will soon be a tenner or a fiver soon enough?
Tiberian Sun Install Instructions (long, sorry, but works great for Win7 / Vista, and the included instructions are awful):
- Downlad the .rar here:
http://www.commandandconquer.com/classic
- Unzip the .RAR file to your 'C:\Program Files' directory. After completion, the file structure should look like this: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Command & Conquer The First Decade\.." etc
- Right click 'Game.exe' (in the 'C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer(tm) Tiberian Sun(tm)\SUN' folder) , go to properties, and set compatibility to 'Win98/ME' in the compatibility tab.
- Also tick 'run as admin' on the compatibility tab.
- Open the folder 'C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer(tm) Tiberian Sun(tm)\SUN' and find a file named 'SUN.INI'.
- Change the following:

ScreenWidth=1280
ScreenHeight=768
StretchMovies=yes
(Note: you can change these resolution settings to your preferred size, but they must be valid resolutions; see the table here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_resolution#Current_standards)
*The above settings work well for 1920x1080 desktops, play with others if you wish
- Copy the "Play Tiberian Sun" shortcut found in the 'C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade' folder, to your desktop.
Run the game using that shortcut.
If the game scrolls too fast for you, simply turn down the 'scroll speed' slider in the options menu.
You can also change the game speed slider here if it's runnung too fast or slow for your taste.

Oh the days of Red Alert, when nobody knew how to ally (by pressing "a" over the enemy's unit) in multiplayer.
Now here's the question, if I try and make these games work with out a cd... would I then not be able to play future command and conquer games due to DRM issues?
I don't know, something about a company just giving away .iso files seems like it could lead to DRM issues with other games.

Uuuh no it won't. The DRM on these old games are incredibly lax its just a cd key nothing else. And they've taken away the need for the CD key anyway for the non-cd freeware release.
Having trouble. followed the instructions precisely and keep getting hit with RA95.EXE entry point not found???
1. Right-click on setup.exe
2. Go to properties.
3. Go to compatibility tab.
3. Choose Win95, or Win98/ME
4. Run Setup.exe
Do exactly the same steps for RA95.exe.

I'm playing generals zero:hour right now, oh the joys of old games on laptops.
I loved tiberian sun, i have the originals on my ps3 but they're just too dated to bother playing.

DAMNIT TO HELL!!! I was playing skirmish mode and was doing well, amassing a swarm of units and getting ready to wreak havoc......forgot about concrete, forgot about turrets around the construction yard, forgot about devil's tongue, forgot about engineer rush. RAGE QUIT!!!
