Ok, so the above trailer is fake, but the title is real. Tron, the videogame based film from 1982, is to finally be blessed with a big-screen sequel, currently known as TR2N (pronounced Tra-two-N). The internet is now buzzing with first hand accounts of the TR2N teaser trailer, just recently shown behind the closed doors of Disney presentation at Comic-Con 08. The best shot by shot description of the video I've found so far can be read here at Aintitcool.com.

Sounds like the film will be all CGI, with Jeff Bridges reprising his role from the first film, but potentially in more than one body. Rumors also has it that some of the creative forces behind the original film, as well as TV's Lost, are both part of the TR2N production team. If that's not enough rumor for you, another report from way back in 1999 states the movie may even have some Pixar muscle behind it. No word yet of Don Knotts' potential involvement in the project, but here's to hoping.

We'll probably get an official, Disney sanctioned look at the teaser in the next few days. I remain puzzled by the "We want you to know this, but we don't want you to know this" thinking behind this sort of selective pre-release of information. Either it's a secret to everybody or it's not, you big jerks.

Ironic that the intricately crafted special effects that made the original film such a spectacle will more than likely be replaced with uninspiring 3D animation.

Nobody's going to fucking call it that. It's 'Tron 2.'

I'm not a Star Wars fan, but why does the title, "Tra-two-N," sound like it came out of something from Star Wars? Am I right, am I wrong or am I too drunk?

Wait why do this, Tron sucked, it had horrible bits of story that made no sense as a whole as was nearly unwatchable, sure the effects were good (for the time, there still fine now for the style) but I would never subject myself to it again, that was painful...

The reason to make this, Livid, is that people love Tron. Some people, really, really, love Tron.

Really? I thought that they canned the movie sequel ideas after the videogames failed. I guess not :D

Don't have many high expectations from it though, didn't that movie only work because 2D was the shit back then?

I'm with LividChihuahua, Tron sucked. The video game sequel from a few years back was pretty sweet though.
