Here’s the first real trailer for Capcom’s upcoming CG Resident Evil movie. We were treated to a little teaser trailer back in December, but now we have a full-blown trailer for Resident Evil: Degeneration.
The movie takes place seven years after the destruction of Raccoon City and the outbreak of the T-Virus. The virus is back once again as it’s unleashed in an airport somewhere in America forcing the Government to seal off the airport and trapping everyone inside. Claire Redfield just so happens to be in this airport and is soon reunited with Leon S. Kennedy. The two must work together to destroy the outbreak and eventually come across a behemoth boss-like character with a giant eye … Wait. Giant eye? Big eyes are caused by the G-Virus ...
Resident Evil: Degeneration will be in theaters this Fall in Japan and on DVD and Blu-Ray here in America later this year. I am a giant fanboy when it comes to Resident Evil so I cannot wait for this to come out!
Also, a little bit of geek fandom if you will: Paul Mercier, the voice of Leon from Resident Evil 4, will voice Leon in Degeneration. Even cooler, Alyson Court, who voiced Claire in Resident Evil 2 and Code: Veronica, will voice Claire in the movie as well!
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Meet the rest of the team
eh...doesnt look as good as Advent Children did...they should up the visuals. Other than that, it looks ok, but it just seems like what any zombie movie would do. "Zombies are here, shoot them all"
Why the fuck couldn't they have done this three movies ago?! This is going to make me forget all about the shitfuck RE movies from before. The original voice actors, some top notch animation, and a pretty sweet zombie scenario makes for an awesome movie. I can't wait to get a firm release date.
It doesn't look that good for a CGI movie, MGS looks better. There something off its to much like an in game extended cut scene the hands are stiff. I even think RE5 looks a bit higher quality.
Look at that one guys long hair its all old school CGI.
I'm with Puppet. Some of the animation looks very dated, almost like the cutscenes from the OLDER RE games. I'll still watch it regardless and I'm sure I'll love it. I guess I'm just a little... Surprised? I was expecting something close to Advent Children style of animation (at least in terms of quality) if not CLOSE enough, but this quality falls nowhere near that.
I think it looks cool. I was at the panel, and asked a question, and dropped some gaijin-esque Japanese on the panelists, and generally geeked out. I'm pretty stoked to see this come out in the interim before RE5.
Was this done in-engine on PS3 hardware? As a CG movie it kind of looks like crap. It's probably because they cut the clips so short, but the teaser trailer looked way better than this.
The rendering, animation (with maybe 2 exceptions), modeling (pause the 46th second for example of all three in one shot), camera work, everything looks bad and if those lines are what they think is cool the script is in for an even bigger world of hurt than the visuals. Do you guys actually think this looks cool when you see it or are you watching something entirely different than I just saw?
Really too bad, I'd been kind of looking forward to it until now. This kind of second-rate production might fly as A material in video games (definitely not AA or AAA anymore, thankfully), but it's strictly junior league amateur hour in film.
So, this is basically one long FMV with terrible dialog, only semi-decent cg work, and some old school zombies thrown in?
Well, still sounds like Resident Evil to me. And, hell, it cant be worse than that live action crap they've been vomiting onto screens for the last couple of years.
I'll see it for sure...as long as I don't have to pay for it.
Sweet, someone already started to prove my point for me. Its going to be really amusing when this thing is actually released. Reviews should be hilarious to read.
I'm disappointed by the human characters in this trailer. It looks like it's going to sit nicely in the uncanny valley which is a shame since Advent Children looked miles better, hell some next gen games look miles better.
I'm going to buy the freakin collector's box, like i did with Advent Children. Yay for CG game movies.
Also, Leon one-liners are gold. I suspect new memes from this movie.
whats with all the "advent children" children here? This is a ZOMBIE MOVIE not some crummy j-pop orgy, and who's complaining at hair when clouds looks like he played with glue too much when he was a kid, at least RE uses REAL HAIRSTYLES. the FF movie was just made to shut fanboys up. the REAL FF movie was the first one.
I love how the movie looks to be in the style of the game's cutscenes. It's got a familiarity to it that would be lost if they had gone with super-realistic CG or live actors.
Am I the only one who thinks this looks average? I don't just mean the visuals, but the content. I guess the name alone sells it, ey?
I'm also not excited about the voice actors. I mean, common. Let's not kid ourselves. Resident Evil 4 was fun, but the story and a lot of the voice acting wasn't too hot, or even good. Especially Paul Mercier.

Finally a decent Resident Evil Movie
Wouldn't it be great if videogame movies were all this good looking.
AWESOME
Today hungry and eat doggie food.
Itchy itchy
Scott came ugly face so killed him. Tasty.
But yeah. I'm actually glad "zombie zombies" are back in the RE universe.
So Im assuming this happens just prior to RE4? Or is it just after? I cant remember.
Must get, Day one.
Im hoping that it's a tease as to whats to come in RE5.
EX: maybe a few normal zombies at parts in RE5?
I'm going to clean my drool now....
Now if this project turns out to be a movie and a game, I'll truly be a happy man.
The Onimusha series had spectacular CGI cutscenes, maybe Capcom could make a CGI Onimusha film next.
Look at that one guys long hair its all old school CGI.
Zombies on a Plane is a real movie, I have it. It sucks something awful, lol.
Which is why I am really glad you posted this Hamza.
Din't Tyrant have giant eyes?

I cannot wait but I would rather they fix up the graphics.
I'm still going to watch it as soon as it comes out though.

Do.
Fucking.
Want.
DO WANT.
