Color Treyarch unimpressed over The Bourne Conspiracy photo

Treyarch's Garrett Young has revealed how his team check out the latest release demos, and has confessed that The Bourne Conspiracy left him feeling a little flat.

"The Bourne game... we did download the demo, we did look at it, like we do anything that's new and coming out," explained Young. "Turok we played and other things that are new, we played GTA although that's not really in our space. But ... yeah ... not super impressed with [Bourne] ... it's always tough though when you make a game and you don't have the lead character from the movie."

Treyarch is currently working on its own movie license, Quantum of Solace, which Young is producing. He's also not alone with the Bourne Conspiracy disappointment, as our very own Mr. Burch gave the game an embarrassing 3.0. I don't think the inclusion of the leader character would have helped, however.

Because the lead character being carried over makes a bad game fun?

I don't think that the inclusion of Matt Damon's likeness would have made the game more fun, but it was certainly distracting to see the same exact scenes from the Bourne movies with some no name dude. I couldn't help but think, "that's not Jason Bourne."

I preferred having the unfamiliar protagonist instead of a badly rendered likeness and voice of an actor which would've otherwise drove up development costs.

But I also liked this game for what a was, a easy to finish rental.

Instead of using time to make the in game likeness remarkable, I would prefer if they made it, um...good?

The Bourne game was better than stranglehold (just played both Demos), it seemed to be full of action and the finishing moves looked cool. Why the comparison? I dunno, maybe the action sequences were something I expected from John Woo but didn't find..

Not ashamed to say that I really enjoyed the demo. So much so, I played it a whole 3 times.

I can wait a year till the game becomes super bargain bin material however (5 for £25 in some Blockbuster and Gamestation stores in the UK was one such recent promotion)

Always nice to add a game to the collection.

Well, since you're doing a movie tie-in too, I'm going to find it hilarious if it sucks.

Although both fortunately and unfortunately, it looks good so far. So I can't take the piss at this stage.

Why is he even commenting on someone else's game? Just work on your own damn projects.

They didn't get Matt Damon because Damon wanted the game to be like Myst. And no I'm not joking, he was dead-set on that.

Treyarch's a joke anyway.
