Blades are cool. Women are cool. Kratos taught us that blades on chains with fiery streaks coming out are even cooler. But blades on chains plus fiery redheaded women plus screenshots that look like this? Ashes, ashes, we all fall in love!
Check out this gallery of seriously stunning new Heavenly Sword screenshots -- maybe it won't make you buy a PlayStation 3, but it will at least make you excited to play it at the house of that punk rich kid you only hang out with for the videogames.
I haven't been very impressed with earlier screen shots and videos of this game. I didn't understand all the hype around it. These new screens, however, have made me change my opinion a little bit. Some of the screen shots have really great colors. Realistic but still bright and stylish. I'd love to see a newer video.
One of the awesome things about these screenshots is the wide variety of environments. There are waterfalls, desert, snow, forest. It is good to know that its not going to be like playing the same level with buildings arranged differently.
Cool, these screenshots look pretty good. The ones before really weren't that fantastic, but it looks like they improved quite a bit. Or the old screenshots were just taken poorly.
That's probably some of the best skin shader work I've ever seen. It's certainly more convincing than Crytek's overenthusiastic use of normal mapping:
A lot of this "next-gen character" art looks way too plasticky for me. Even Mass Effect, as much as I love the concept, just looks like Mannequin Effect to me:
I don't know what Ninja Theory is doing differently here, but I like.
I'm not liking this uncanny valley next gen world.
Ever Resident Evil 4 was a little to plastic and pseudo real for me. It works in a game where you are supposed to hate and kill most of what you see on screen. But when you are suppose to actually like the characters you are looking at, it sort of fails for me.
It looks like they finally got rid of the frame rate issues I would see in previous videoes. To be honest I have yet to buy any of the God of War games so this game would be a new experience for me.
This looks fantastic, and I say that as someone who doesn't particularly like Sony. I like the character designs, especially Olivia Mu- I mean, uh, Nariko.
close up cut-scenes look nice, but the actual gameplay looks like Dynasty Warriors.
Basically the cut-scenes are glorified tech demos, and the in-game graphics are uninspired.
just wow, my ass. If you want excellent upcoming *in-game* graphics, you should be looking at Mass Effect, Bioshock, or Blue Dragon. On Playstation, Lair looks excellent visually, but it is still Rougue Squadron with dragons (not a bad thing on second thought!)
Looks pretty nice, though I don't understand why she can't run on top of people (she did kill them, after all); instead, she just jogs in place right in front of them.
Not sure how you can say Crytek's normal mapping is overdone. Trying to compare realism (crytek) with stylized character work (Heavenly Sword) is a bit apples-to-oranges, no?

But 26 - 29.. Wow. Looks like it would be bananas.
Sure it looks pretty but from what i've seen so far, it just looks too much like God of War for my liking.
Though i will admit, the protagonist is pretty hawt in this game.
Totally not worth buying the console for IMO. Atleast not yet anyway.
Meh. Pretty tho'.
I used to be one of them scumbag Nintendo Fanboy's.
Kind of still am but i love my 360.
Still, somewhere along the road that is my life i decided i didn't like the Playstation and thus never wanted one.
I have been severely tempted on numerous occasions though.
Mainly for FFVII, FFX and Shadow of the Collossus.
there are still people out there that still don't own a PS2? on THIS site? wow.
and btw, there are SO many more games to get than the 3 you listed (though those are a start).
BEST SYSTM EVAR! PS2 ftw!
I bought a Gamecube. AND i defended it to everyone even when i knew it was dying a slow and painful death.
Nintendo owes me for supporting them.
@kawitchate:
I never said those were the only good games on the system, just that they were the only three that ever seriously tempted me into getting one.
If they replace Twizzler-Hair with Gatsu I'd get a PS3 on the way home, but otherwise... no thanks.
Technically impressive, artistically dull.

you could poke your eyes out in some of those screenshots

Okay now, stroke her hair...
