Collect Playboy in Mafia II, and why not?
2K Games has revealed that it will bring "sophistication and classic imagery" to Mafia II by allowing players to collect vintage Playboy magazines. Sure, why the Hell not? "Mafia II is set when Playboy first came into vogue and features characters whose style and attitudes mirror content from our early issues," says the magazine's editorial director, Jimmy Jellinek. "We're excited to bring an element of authenticity to the game that is unmatched in the men's publishing category." Over fifty classic issues of the up-market wank mag will be in the game when it releases later this year. Hark back to the glory days of the acceptable face of soft porn and enjoy the stupidest videogame story you're likely to read today! Mafia 2 Gets In-Game Playboy Magazine for 'Sophistication and Classic Imagery' [Shacknews] Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)Huh, interesting, I wonder how much they paid to include this 'feature.' It would be neat if they included the articles too. I wouldn't call it product placement, Playboy already is a part of American history and culture, so if it really is product placement, then it's like advertising God and that's stupid and senseless. Although I'm sure we'll get there at some point. Call 555-**** and our answering machine will explain you how to turn to Islam in less than one minute for only 9 dollars 11 cents. And people thought virtual sex was creepy? Now we're drifting into virtual masturbation.
Yay technology! @GreatRedneckHope -- I would say it's definitely product placement. Just like pretty much every magazine in existence, the Internet took over the niche Playboy used to fill. The people at Playboy have to be desperate for new subscribers right about now. can you actually look through them?
