Co-op mode confirmed for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles photo

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles on the Wii seems to get better and better with each passing tidbit of information that comes to light. The latest bit of juicy confirmation from Famitsu tells us that a 2-player co-op mode is a reality. Oh, but there's more --  Your starting point in the game will change, depending on which character you decide to play as. Not exactly ground-breaking stuff for an RE game, as Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 0 did something like this as well -- but who's complaining?

The bottom line is that this game seeks to give us a peek into some of the missing back-story (from Umbrella's perspective) that Resident Evil fans have been waiting for. That alone, warrants some interest. Knowing that some of the former members of Clover Studios are working on it seals the deal. If only they would give us a solid release date, I'd be able to stop hitting up the Capcom website like a crack addict. Until then, keep your eyes peeled for updates as we get them.

So quiet today. I'm a bit sketchy over this game. I think that they should've gone with the old style gameplay of RE4. A true RE game. LEave the crap shooters to the PS machines.

Shooting zombies is always better with a friend.

Yup. If things head South, you are going to want some brains nearby to munch on. Nothing says "you're my special buddy", like giving up the gray matter for a friend in need.

Ahh yes it must be mentioned that the co-op could bring the awesome to this game, much like House of hte Dead did to the Dreamcast.

You know what would be even better, having CO-Op but with RE4 gameplay..???

Speaking of co-op what would be the best game today with that feature...will this be it or what?

nice about co-op, but (begin rant) why does it have to be an on-rails shooter? are Wii owners really that dumb? (end rant)

at least Capcom seems to be getting some graphical power out of the Wii; animations seem to be a little lackluster though.

i see what you mean smath.

RE:4 was great, and i don't believe on rails shooters belong on a home console (even one like the wii) because they're mostly short and really only good for short spurts like in arcades. if the story and single player is somewhat substantial and long enough without being boring, than it should be good.

i also want a zombie master mod for this game. how fucking awesome would that be?

I would have prefered for RE:UC to use the RE4 control scheme, but it's understandable that they didn't, as they don't want people getting sick of it before RE5 comes out.

I was going to get this game regardless, even if I knew it was going to suck. But now with co-op, I'm actually excited about it. Hopefully I can get my fiance to play with me, as she loves zombie movies.

I loved the RE games so much on the PS1. This game is as close to a GC remake of RE2 and RE3 as we are likely going to get.

(Sort of) Next Gen Nemesis FTW.

How are people going to become sick of something they are not getting? I doubt Re5 comes out on the Wii, unless Capcom has a better engine that really puts the wii to the test... But i find it very bone headed and stubborn to put it on rails, regardless of what they think Wii owners can handle or not handle..

Mono, the game is about the fall of umbrella. aka, pretty much every resi before 4. The backstory is going to be in there.

The eternal problem for Umbrella Chronicles is that it's just not RE5 is it.
Sorry Capcom, fuck off with your cheap House Of The Dead clone, it's not fooling anyone.

Whilst the talent that made RE4 are hard at work on RE5, Capcom get the tea boy to knock out UC. Again, fuck off Capcom, love your work, but only when you bother to make it work. If you are using your best talent to make other games, in other words, you don't give a shit about UC, then why should I give a shit about it. And I don't.

I for one like on-rails shooters, and RE4 is the only RE I liked (that is to say: the only RE I could play long enough to beat before suffering a heart attack).

I would just view this game not as a full blown RE game but, as a simple diversion to wet our appetite until the next RE5 comes out. No more no less.

At least worth a rental I bet.
