Nintendo has been making some serious fan-pleasing strides in the past couple of weeks. Xenoblade Chronicles was confirmed for a North American release, the new 3DS update came and provided a host of welcome additions and fixes, and now Club Nintendo is undergoing renovations of its own.
The site isn't completely ready yet, but once it is, you'll be able to exchange your coins for actual games on the Wii Shop or 3DS eShop. They are pretty inexpensive, too! The first batch will include Fluidity (150 coins) and Super Mario Kart (100 coins) for Wii, 3D Classics: Xevious (100 coins) and and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! (150 coins) for 3DS. After January 10, those games will be removed and different titles will take their place.
Does this sound like a good thing? I think it's a good thing.
Club Nintendo getting huge makeover, will offer downloadable games [Nintendo Everything]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Good on Nintnedo. Lots of good moves these last two weeks.

It depends on the game. If it's distributed or published by Nintendo, chances are that yes.
For example, the Ace Attorney Games, Ghost Trick, Xenoblade, and even Monster Hunter Tri can be registered. But, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, for instance, can't.
How do you do this in Europe? Is it possible to do it with 3DS games?
@mr 3man That might get you to join up?....its free dude, youre only screwing yourself over if you buy Nintendo games and never register them. The points vary by game and theres a post-game survey thats about 5 to 10 coins as well.
Usually 10 points for a downloadable title; ~50 points for a retail game. You get 10 points for a post game survey a few days later, and 10 more points if you indicate you "plan" on purchasing any games before their release date, then register it. So technically you can get around 70 points for a $50 retail title, which isn't bad.
BUY PUSHMO!!!!!!
What a love!
Also, why are people sitting on massive amounts of coins when there are Game & Watches to be had? I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS.
Well, first of all, I don't know if it's done the same way it's done here in Spain... but you have to load a crapload of stars into your account (1000 points take 4000 stars, for example). Then, you go to the Stars Catalogue, you choose a points card, and there, you link your Club Nintendo account to your Wii. And there you go.
It's the only way I know, and I don't know about 3DS since I don't own one. It's a very complicated way and you have to burn a lot of stars in games, so I don't think it's worth it.
We have 2 3DS' registered on my account and that accounts set to be a family account, so we could pool our resources for more Nintendo stuff. So what does that mean exactly for accounts like that? We all technically put in the money to get the coins to get these games, does that mean we're all going to get the games, or the main account holder? Because that'd be a pretty fucked up system if the rest of the people contributing miss out on those games too.
Can you guys check up on that maybe? Cause that'd be a big huge pisser for families.
@Jonathan Holmes
I believe it goes by fiscal year+ 2 extra months, which makes it end in June. I also believe -at least this year- we were told we needed to pick our Platinum/Gold prizes by the second week in July. then you have to wait and wait. In fact, I just got my pinset on Friday and had done everything as soon as I as contacted about it. Thats just my experience though, I'm sure it varies.
