Quantcast

Echochrome had Destructoid talking all the way back in 2007 at the Tokyo Game Show, where Nick Chester marvelled over its weirdness and generally sounded stoned out over it's Escher-esque leanings. The demo came out in Japan for the PSP on March 6th, which you can score here if you can directly connect your PSP to the PC (since it came with a USB cable, let's hope you can get that far.)

The Japanese commercial above shows a bit of the tongue-in-cheek humor I remember most fondly from Playstation 2's golden age of popularity, which sure does my heart good when it comes to the future of the PSP and PS3. Also, what's the deal with Japanese men with afros? How the hell do you grow that with a genetic predisposition for straight, fine hair?

That is a pretty awesome commercial. :)

As for the afro, I'd guess transplanting pubes? Lord knows the people in Japanese porn don't seem to understand proper grooming, so I'm sure they have some to spare. :p

That game looks amazing, can't wait. And as far as Asian afros go, when i was in Hong Kong this past December I saw a bunch of them! I'm guessing some major perming action went on to get their hair so curly....

as a japanese man, you don't grow the afro-- you make it. it, in turn, makes you awesome.

Does anyone have an idea of how many levels this game is going to have? My excitement is on a razor's edge, checked the Japanese PSN demo, and the announcer spoke in English. Perfect, now I can buy the full version in Japanese because they speak in English right? Whoops, it's over 18 dollars. I haven't noticed any price gouging on the Japanese PSN before, and unless this game has one hundred levels or more, I won't want to dish out what is sure to be $25 by the time it gets to Canada.

My father's Japanese and he has straight, thick hair, and my mother is white and has curly hair, so when I grow my hair long, it pretty much goes into an afro.

How a full Japanese person does it, now that beats me.

I tried the demo last week and I thought it was intriguing. I really want this game to be out now so I can get my puzzle game fix.

I could swear that some Japanese people just know how to grow afros and some don't, genetic disposition be damned.
