Circuit City manager aware that there will be a PS3 beatdown tomorrow photo

During my lunch break I rolled into a nearby Circuit City to talk to some of the gamers in line as well as the store representatives. The whole tent/camping thing was cute yesterday, but by now it's no longer funny. Those guys are dying out there. I'm going back to bring them cookies and crap food in robot armor in a few. If you are near a store, please do the gaming community a favor and roll by with some entertainment for these hardcore gamers. They are really, really bored.

Anyway, the shop manager asked that the line form around the corner for the day, as they were blocking (and frightening) front door traffic. He then added that they are not taking preorders and are not attempting to control the line -- when that door opens at 8am it's anybody's game. He also added that he is aware that more than 30 people are already waiting in line and they only have 20 available, so he anticipates a feud at the door and in the isles. Also, cocks.

On one hand, my heart goes out to these people.  On the other hand, I enjoy watching horrible car accidents happen. Thus, I may just have to show up at 8am to film the bloodbath. May the gamers with the sharpest elbows win!

No way will I be bringing the guys I just talked to anything. I actually didn't think there would be a line outside the walmart in the communtiy that I'm in at the moment, but then I remembered that I'm here for college and so are others. Then again the guys in line looked like highschoolers. There getting 6 at the walmart of an original 10. There was like 12 people in line. Out of the 4 I talked to 3 said it was going on ebay and one of those 3 even offered it to me right there for 2000 dollars (the 20gb version...) I was like um...no thanks. The ebgames store was supposed to get 12 so I don't know if they were cut back too, I'm about to call my friend who works there and find out.

When I get into work, I'm going to make sure of the number of PS3s and talk to the manager, and before we open I'm going to inform them that if they don't have a preorder, then they should leave. Our shipments were cut back and one of my store's managers keeps trying to take one herself, even though we're not close to filling preorders.

Husky, that you in the video? The woman on the phone said it was cool to line up, so what's the problem?? I'm totally confused.

The manager deserves any problems that may occur. Why don't he or she just hand out 20 tickets to the first 20 people in line? Wouldn't that solve the problem? Wouldn't that stop them from "frightening" the customers? Instead, they are going to have a riot in the store with the 100th person in line blowing through everyone and grabbing a system.

That's why any of these game stores deserve all the hate for preordering. Why would they do that, knowing the fiasco of the 360 launch? They know their entire stock of ps3's will sell in minutes without having people pre order, why cause a riot and ill will with your customers?

I don't understand why stores use this first come first serve rule... The people that are waiting are in a line for a reason. I totally agree with Broham in using tickets rather than see people get injured and possibly cause damage to your store. This happend to me when I went to preorder the PS3 and Wii... The people at Gamestop just told us to that it was first come first serve and they pointed out that anything in the store was to be damaged they would kick some people out. Clearly they want us to riot...

The store workers just want to see some nerd blood. All this PS3 launch is showing us is that the way consoles launch is completely retarded and there definitely need of a change.

I'm 6'3" 175lbs, so I'm like a defensive back (minus 30lbs and plus 1.5 seconds in the 40) so I encourage anyone to try to beat me to the PS3 and Wii. I'll enjoy drop kicking and jabbing anyone feeling a bit over confident during this holiday season. Gamer/Athletes are deadly in any competition. You'll get your ass kicked bitch

Im 6'1 250lbs (not all that is fat...)and if I've learned anything from these wii commercials its how to flail my arms around like a big drunken hobo in case someone thinks they can sneak by me... Tequila and $600 consoles are a deadly combination...lol

You know, all of this would have just been avoided if Sony would have had the common sense to just release in Spring 07 or Christmas 07.

They're not trying to control the line? What's the point of a line at all, then?

It's really not a line.
It's a big screaming doomsday mob in waiting.
