Circuit City is back from the dead photo

One of the biggest and most relevant victims of this "global economic downturn" (at least to us) was Circuit City. The electronics chain closed its doors late last year, but its Web site has recently re-opened, showing that the company, at least in name, is not dead yet.

Circuit City is now owned by Systemax Inc, who has pledged to re-open the brand with better service, shipping, selection and lower prices. Of course, every company says that. Still, they're selling Kung Fu Panda on DS for a mere $20.99. I'm sure you're all rushing to order that little beauty. That Panda, he loves his Kung Fu.

Welcome back, Circuit City.

[Thanks, Darkair]

I fondly remember picking up Spiderman 2 and The Fall of Max Payne for $10 each at Circuit City. Those were good times. Here's to hoping they make it back to owning walk-in retail outlets again. Best Buy seriously needs some competition.

Still won't shop there. This American Life had a good podcast where it read letters from employees concerning their last days. Check it out.

Systemex? is that like the Mexican version of Systemax?
anyways Systemax are the ones that own Tigerdirect, and bought off CompUSA and some of its stores.
I wonder if they just paid for the website and brand name of Circuit City, or for the stores too.

be careful I'm hearing their return policy is a nightmare. So if something is damaged in shipping your screwed.

Good for them. I'm happy to see that they haven't gone away, hopefully they can keep themselves afloat this time (Well, with the help of Systemax).

@Evilvet

Not to be a penis, but the reality is that a bunch of the stores closed last year. Then all of the stores were closed by this year, due to bankruptcy.

Also, cocks. We call them cocks here.

That zombie in the front has a very non-zombie like stomach. Damn....that'd be fucked up if only one patch of your body went undead. I mean, if I'm gonna zomb-out I wanna be all zombie...not just part zombie.

Everytime I walked into Springfield, MO's Circuit City as a twenty-something buyer, I was ignored and NEVER asked for help. I'd like to think it was just my store's problem, but I never went back.

Maybe this time they'll learn not to open up a Circuit City store next to a Best Buy store all the time.
