Today is September 9, and if you don't know how that relates to the Dreamcast, I'm sorry. You're missing out. News on the iDevice front is that the oft-forgotten Chu Chu Rocket will be making its debut sometime this October, complete with every Dreamcast level and four-person multiplayer.
Heck, it'll even support Game Center, if you're into that sort of thing. According to Slide To Play, Sega says it might consider doing Shining Force 2 on iPhone and Chu Chu Rocket on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade if there's enough support on Facebook.
Riiight. You care about your fans, Sega. We get it. (Less teasing, more porting, please.)

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Between this and Bangai-o two of my favorite things that ever happened on dream cast could come screaming back in to my hands!!
PLEASE put it on xbla!
Ugh, I'd even consider an itouch just to play this. (well, I'd use it for more, but this and i have business)
I had the GBA version but lost it all to soon. :(
bah!
No seriously, Chu Chu Rocket is a damned amazing game, and needs to be on XBLA and PSN and DS and everything that's got an analog stick or D-pad and four buttons. Wow... I'm getting all worked up over this. Calm down, Ryan, calm down.
Hey SEGA, why don't you make Chu Chu Rocket a 3DS launch game instead? Not because being in 3D would make any real gameplay difference or anything, but just to boost sales. People are always willing to take bigger risks on launch games. I mean, porting this game can't be too time consuming, right?
Nostalgia can be a misleading thing.
Seriously though, how anyone not want ChuChu Rocket on any system. Best way to end a games night in my opinion.
Please bring it to PSP....pretty please.
Power stone, Crazy Taxi, Chu chu rocket, Skies of arcadia, Shenmu, Seaman, and the AMAZING Jet grind radio gave it some serious credentials.
They might not all hold up, but there's no denying they were some op tier games at the time.
Megadrive (aka Genesis) had awesome games, as did the old Nintendo consoles. But Dreamcast..
*heads off to wiki*
OK, so Dreamcast came out in 1998 - PS1 was in Japan at least in 1994 and N64 was out in 1996.
Yeah so pretty much: PS1 > N64 > Dreamcast.
That'll be why the Dreamcast was that obscure console one of my weirder friends had for a while but soon got rid of, while the rest of us had N64's and PS1's.
I knew you had to be young. I knew it! You had to goto wikipedia to look up the Dreamcast? Bwahaha!
Oh and so you get the facts straight, the Dreamcast went up against the PS2 and Gamecube, not the N64 and PS1. It's also far from an "obscure system," most of the architecture and controller layout eventually went into the Xbox and 360
Setting aside the usual BS certain fan boys like to pass off as comments. The Dreamcast was way ahead of it's time in several aspects. Not to mention it brought the online experience to consoles for the first time. It also had a spiffy web browser too. Unfortunately it was backed by Sega, so yeah... What a shame. =/
Anyone with half a brain could see how great the console was for when it was release and those obscure games are the reasons why most people loved the console in the first place. I find it humorous that certain individuals think owning more than one console or even showing appreciation for anything else is this out of the world concept and an insult to any other brand they may prefer. It's an immature thought process, worsen by the fact that certain people seriously entertain it as some form of contribution to anything. Basically, obvious troll is obvious.
"most of the architecture and controller layout eventually went into the Xbox and 360"
Oh dear, that explains a lot.
